Bramco Posted Monday at 12:13 Posted Monday at 12:13 @Roundtuit - you're right! Old age creaping in... I remember now! Thanks for reminding me. Need to wash the windows more often and remember to spray the underhangs...

Thanks also to @JohnMo for the contrast image. Maybe what we need is a forum topic for sharing specs and images of cladding, so that folks can easily see what the differences are.
SteamyTea Posted Monday at 12:40 Posted Monday at 12:40 Had never heard of this process. From a website: "Sioo:x essentially consists of a unique combination of silicon and potassium – two natural substances found all around us and which together create a natural shield similar to nature’s own wood protection." All elements are natural, but usually not found in their natural state, I am not sure how toxic they are, don't mix up silicon with silicone. Elemental potassium explodes in water, so assume it is not on its own, silicon dioxide is nasty.

Certainly would be interesting....have seen a good range of images trawling through, but having them in one place would be helpful. Not only finishes but also profiles e.g hidden fixings/board on board, wood types etc etc? And window colours in relation to cladding finish....I (j - aesthetic rather than technical lead), have asked several hubbers, including yourself ( @Kelvin @Susieall of which have helped me.

From the Sioox website -> https://sioox.com/pro/gb/articles/patented-silicon-formula/ 'The use of silicon technology to protect and preserve wood was already developed in nineteenth-century Germany. We have refined this technology and created a patented silicon formula for a unique wood protection product – that contains no toxins. Our silicon-based wood protection products are based on mechanical principles. Simply put, the product’s silicon crystals penetrate and strengthen the wood, while forming a physical barrier.'
