There was rain last night but I have no idea how much . No obvious leak .

My new theory is ….

 

This wall I hosed continually and kept away from the quoin near the gate . No leak . So I assumed wall not an issue .

But ! . Water from under the gate run off is lower than the block paving so in theory could run under it ? . 
Hence hosing to the right - testing that .

Ran that for 10 mins .

what’s surprising is the little amount of water running over the pavers . It’s all vanished somewhere !!

Nothing . Not a hint of dampness inside . Though I still need to allow a few hours .

 

Assuming it’s dry there are 2 possibilities…

 

It’s not leaking because the leak isn’t in this area I.e it’s to the left not the right 

 

OR

Possibly a tiny bit coming through … will wait longer .

If so will take up the bricks along the rest of that wall , dig out loose ground , concrete and bitumen paint as before .

But it’s definitely getting less .

 

I guess what would be helpful is to have that water run off from that corner somehow ‘made’ to go over the block paving …

So literally nothing underneath- just so water can’t pool but will run forward and then when it hits the rest of the block paving will spill over so it can’t ’back up’ . Good plan ? . A plan !!

Cleared out the rest ready for tomorrow. You know I was amazed how all the water disappeared…. Well , probably because of that mofo hole !!!

Pooling water will find the weak point. If you can get rid of it, as the low point is "filling up", it can only help. 

 

In winter water can expand in a crack making it bigger.

So I bitumen painted it , but am truly sceptical it will fix the issue . Will do a mega soak test tomorrow!!

Flooded it about 2 hours  ago ; no sign of leak

Right going to dig this corner up at the base quoin and concrete it

Annoyingly one of my first tests was hosing the quoin column for 10 minutes - with no sign of a leak .

But I’ll dig up that part in the lane Monday when it’s 30 degrees .
