I've a couple of lathe & plaster ceilings to take down. Need a respirator but don't want to pay 3M money.

I've been recommended this "clone":

However people are suggesting I then use genuine 3M filters in it.

However I've also found these:

Thoughts?

Cheers

Speaking as an asthmatic :) I vote for the good quality 3M products - much better and cheaper than having to get your lungs fixed. BTW I don’t think you need a forced air respirator for plaster if that’s what you were considering. Worth getting some tested for asbestos?

I’d try it

We have the branded helmets that are a couple of hundred quid I think they all do the same thing

We bought some of these for insulating the loft.

Was very impressed with them. interms of comfort and efficiency. Can work out cheaper than using a decent disposable mask.

+1 on Force8. I’ve used them for about 8 years and probably won’t stop until they stop making them.

the 3m 4251 fits nicely too.

I don’t/haven’t used a disposable since I did fit to fit training with a previous employer.

I've used various respirators over the years and found that most of the filters became unobtainable. Now it's 3M only, but if you're planning to use them only for a single project it matters less.
