Bosch Dishwasher Water Connection

I've just bought a Bosch dishwasher and the water connection is of a type I've never seen before, the Beko one I have replaced it with had a standard 3/4" washing machine type connection whereas the Bosch has the thing below that doesn't fit onto the mains 3/4" isolator, there was nothing else supplied to make this connection, what do I need to do?

I usually use the feed that came with the last washer.  Must be 20 years old now.

 

Is it some sort of filter?

This ones built in at the appliance end so I can't just swap the hose, it looks like a filter but not sure, I've not seen anything like it before.

I believe its their safety device whereby if it detects an abnormal flow of water, eg a leak within the machine, it cuts off the supply.

As far as I remember, mine just screwed into the existing house plumbing

That makes sense but it doesn't fit on the isolator I already have it seems like the appliance fitting is 1/2" and that's 3/4".

Washing machine connections I have always used are 3/4” not 1/2” 🤷‍♂️

Thats correct, the one I have is 3/4" but it looks like the appliance is 1/2".

Ah, I misinterpreted your post. Can you check the paperwork to see if it’s mentioned, if not what model is it?

Yes it’s called Aquastop and is used across the Bosch family brand. It has a solenoid that closes if it detects a leak. It uses a 3/4” thread.

99% sure mine just screwed onto a 3/4 inch isolator valve. Perhaps have a cup of tea and try again 😁

I might try screwing a loose check valve onto it and see if that works, once I know it does I can try it on the fixed one.

This is what I was trying to attach mine to, not sure if it needs anything fitting to that first.

No,, that’s an in line washing machine/dishwasher 3/4” connector. Are you sure your machine came with a 1/2” ? Measure it.

I got a new Bosch washer about a year ago, it did not have one of those.

I feel cheated.

The cheaper end of their range don’t have them. It also comes with a warranty that should it not stop a leak they’ll cover the damage. However they also know that dishwashers rarely leak from the cold water inlet so they’re providing a feature you don’t really need and charging you more for it.

I only guessed it was half inch due to the fact I couldn't get it to fit.

We've got a similar fitting on our Miele dishwasher and that screwed onto a 3/4" washing machine tap.

Managed to sort, I did when I was a bit calmer and it fitted easily, thanks for all the help and Merry Xmas to you all.

Excellent. I’m a bit like that too. Sometimes sleeping on stuff is the best way to fix it.
