How close should you place an MVHR external vent to an outside seating area?

We are working up plans for a new self-build and the drawings have the MVHR external vent just around a corner from the patio seating area outside the kitchen/dining room. Is that ok or are these vents quite noisy?

The only time you hear anything from ours is when it is on full speed boost while showering.

That’s an interesting thought.  The smell of burning flesh throughout the house will alert everyone to the fact that the food is over-ready.  Lovely.    😕

Food should be oven ready, the idea of cooking it outside, on uncontrollable fire, fuelled by soot, is just silly.

 

Nearly everything I cook in our restaurant goes in the oven.

And in the plus side, maybe food poisoning increases one’s biome diversity.

Depends on the unit. Around a corner is probably ok. 

 

Beside a patio probably isn't. 

 

You could always leave space to fit a rigid silencer.

They can be quite noisy. Like a desk fan. It’s a constant noise obviously rather than on/off. Round a corner and you’ll likely not hear it. Because it’s constant, if you could hear it over time it’ll likely merge in with the background noise. If you can find someone who has MVHR it would be worth seeing if you could go and hear it for yourself.

We could hardly hear ours.  Very quiet, almost silent.
