tokyotecubate
Hello all, We are supposed to have our kitchen delivered today, however when the kitchen delivery company arrived, they claim that they do not have access to the site and the site is not ready ( our builder has laid their shelf with the tools in the hallway), and left the site without delivering the kitchen. The kitchen company is now charging us £520 for the redelivery charge, which to me seems pretty ridiculous - that would be the cost of the fitters for a whole day! In all fairness, while our builders should have kept the site access clear, the delivery company never gave us a timeframe, nor give us a call when they are near site. They show up 8:30am, took pictures of the access, and just left. Our builders were planning to clear the access for the delivery thinking they might arrive in the afternoon. What would be a fair cost for redelivery charges for a kitchen delivery? ( Or that you know other kitchen companies charge for) - £520 seems very steep ( and a surprise as they never gave us any of that coat when we bought the kitchen !) Thank you! Mr Punter
I have just had a couple of kitchens delivered where they give a week long delivery window including Sunday, between 8:00AM and 10:00PM and only narrow it down 2 days before. Where were your builders at the time and why did they think the delivery might arrive in the afternoon? Also, did they quote delivery as an extra when you ordered or was it included in the price? I guess they have driven to your site and needed to go back, unload and store, reload and redeliver. I think you may need to cough up the money. Make sure it is ready next time. nod
A call along the way might of been a good idea But also your builder moving his shit would also been a good idea Split the cost with your builder
ProDave
I would have made it my business to be there and move the builders stuff out of the way myself if they were not there to move it myself.

Alan Ambrose
Ah, some delivery drivers are super-aggresive and angry, especially at this time of year. They could have called you on the way or texted beforehand with their eta. It would have taken them less than a minute. They could have carefully moved the builder’s tools and made their delivery. That would have been kind, calm and effective. But no, they chose to go ballistic and crazy with you. Tell them they can either redeliver for free or cancel the order. We really don’t want to encourage this kind of nonsense.
