Vijay
Hi all, Asking for a very good friend of my partner. She was just about to have normal wooden decking down on their patio (I believe it's 2400 x 3600) and I mentioned how I hated wooden decking cos of the maintenance. She has looked at composite and said it's a bit of a minefield in terms of product and price. I just wondered if anyone has used a product they they would recommend and also if anyone has any good or bad points about composite decking. Is it something people wouldn't bother with and go with slabs or something? They're an elderly couple so maintenance needs to be pretty minimum. Cheers Vijay
Pocster
I used plenty of https://ovaeda.com The costs add up with all the fittings though. Just a simple rectangle or something more elaborate ? I can put photos up of my “ almost finished “ decking if that helps ? Edited August 27 by Pocster
Vijay
just a simple rectangle. Yeah any pics would be good which I can send her
JohnMo
Ultra deck - Signature Dual. About a third the price of our local builders merchants. Comparing it seems identical, exactly the same colour on both sides, same dimensions same material.
Dave Jones
make sure to try them wet, jewsons had one setup outside, it was like an ice rink wet. Wasnt cheap either.

As they're elderly a good grip is pretty vital You can get anti slip wood decking coated in a very rough sand filled coating. Suspect as it's factory applied there would be much maintenance. Seen it used in commercial settings. Not good for bare feet through

It has been no problem so far and the quality is very good. https://www.jacksons-fencing.co.uk/product/sc_755900sr/slipresistant-heavy-decking-board-ex-32mm-x-150mm-3.6m-long-natural-finish

It's still the maintenance side of wood though

Vijay
they're all treated but you need to keep up the maintenance of washing it down and re-treating it

Mr Punter
I have Ipe timber decking smooth finish. It is non-slip and nearly non-combustible. It looks like it will last forever. Probably environmentally ruinous. Budget £150 /m2 fitted.

Yeah I've told them don't skimp on the base, has to be substantial and not likely to rot away
