Post and beam
Our preferred Kitchen supplier agrees that VAT is not to be applied to their cabinetry. But they insist that they are correct in applying it to the appliances that we buy from them. As these will all be built into the cabinets and cannot be removed without the use of at least one tool ( not including me) then i believe they are incorrect. What experiences have you guys had with this part of the build please?

nod
We’ve just bought another German kitchen in and paid vat on all of it It was easier to claim the vat back than try and explain that some items are zero rated

I’ve bought a German kitchen and installed it myself, all the appliances are hard wired in and obviously the dishwasher is plumbed in

Pendicle
I like the A-Z list attached as found most items are listed although I’m a long way off from claiming. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/goods-and-services-you-can-claim-for-under-the-vat-diy-scheme
Bonner
Only appliances you can reclaim VAT are extractors or hob with built in extractor. Don’t believe suppliers can zero rate any part of a kitchen unless they are fitting it, ie. you should pay the VAT and reclaim it at the end.
