Alexphd1
Is this supply all materiel aswell? Have you sat down and added up the materiel? It looks a pretty straightforward spec nothing to fancy. First thoughts it's a expensive but more experienced people will be along in a minute.
ProDave
I count 154 "points" I used to estimate on the basis of 1 hour per point. So 154 hours. I am out of touch with labour rates "down south" but a few years ago I would be quoting just under £5K for the labour for that. I would guarantee southern rates will be a lot higher than that, £7K for labour would not surprise me in the least. Materials will add up, they could easily be another £7K depending what you want. saveasteading
Labour rates dahn saff are very high. A skilled sole operator will be looking at £300 a day and 8 effective hours is pushing it. @ProDave 's 150 hours x £40 = £6k. And prob quote higher than that. A business will be 40% more, so £8.4k or more. Plus vat.

Alan Ambrose
>>> 8 effective hours is pushing it 3 hours of work on a good day + 1 hour going to the trade counter + 1 hour general chat + 1 hour on the phone to new potential and old tee-ed off clients + 1 hour on social media + 1 hour making an influencer video? It saddens me how little regard people have for tradesmen. You think they are all a lazy overcharging bunch of wasters? I had always preferred to charge by the hour rather than the day, that way I do 7 hours, you pay for 7 hours. I also preferred to give estimates not quotes so again you only pay for what the job takes. Every time I have mentioned this I get shot down and told people prefer a fixed price. I always got the vast majority of my work through word of mouth and recommendations. That is the lifeblood of most sole traders. If you really have such a low opinion of them, don't recommendation, and they will soon be out of business.

I don't mean to imply 'all' , and a good 7 hours is better than a bad 8. But I've been doing this a long time (in SE) and a lot of trades and professions take it easy esp now the Eastern Europeans have gone. The greatest contrast in efficiency and value is between Scottish and SE English lawyers.

But was happy overall. 1 hour ago, Alan Ambrose said: 3 hours of work on a good day + 1 hour going to the trade counter + 1 hour general chat + 1 hour on the phone to new potential and old tee-ed off clients + 1 hour on social media + 1 hour making an influencer video? We didn't have any of that anyway from any trades we used. Some long breaks, but nearly all our jobs were fixed price, those that weren't the guys worked their socks off. 7 minutes ago, ProDave said: I always got the vast majority of my work through word of mouth and recommendations. None of trades knew how to tidy up after themselves - but that's another issue.
