Decoupling Matt

@nod have you ever used any low profile matting (bal, larsen, kerrakoll), long story short I think I might have cocked up with the threshold height on my front door so I think every mm I can save will count, either that or admit to the missus I've made a mistake and live in the doghouse until I can replace the front doorset...

Never heard of decoupling mat before, so never used it. UFH been working for 3 years, tiles no cracks. Ours was a concrete floor laid before the house walls were started so had a 9 month dry time.

So what is it supposed to stop?

Or is a means of screed one day do tiles a few days later?

It is tempting to try to avoid it. My screed has been down for two years now (UFH heated for a year when weather needed it) and it adds about £2,000 to the overall tiling cost. It would be gutting to have cracked tiles though.

We didn't use decoupling mat but did use flexible tile adhesive. The concrete had been down five years before we tiled the downstairs and we didn't have UFH.
