Onoff
My mate is after a 3-piece aluminium ladder. With it he's after one of those horizontal bars across the base and ideally a wall standoff. Budget is ideally £150 delivered. Been looking at the diy & trade spec ones at the like of MachineMart & Screweys. Just wondered if anyone has used a good online supplier. Thanks. dpmiller
No recommendations on supplier but I'd give a big thumbs-up to Zarges for their equipment...
Jeremy Harris
I bought a pretty well made (German, I think) three piece ladder, with the horizontal bar across the base, but without wall bars (wish I had bought the walls bars now). I can't find the receipt or supplier, but will have a look to see what the make is. I'm pretty sure I bought it on line, and seem to remember is cost around £130 or so, around 3 years ago. It's done a lot of work since then, and I've not found fault with it at all, with the single exception that the lowest two ladders have nylon straps to limit over-extension, and they can be a nuisance if you don't have the ladder at full height, as they end up as dangling loops. ProDave
Screwfix sell a wall stand off that will clamp onto ant ladder.
Onoff
I've used Zarges through work for 35 years now funnily enough, not just ladders but bespoke travelling gantries in building atriums, aircraft steps etc. I've an aluminium ladder standoff like this: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/adjustable-ladder-stand-off-bracket/ Lightweight and dead easy to use but a bit fiddly with it's wingnuts etc. The fixings to attach it get shared with the "wheels" attachment that hooks over the ridge. I've also a Climba, steel ladder standoff that came with the garage. For my mate I was looking for a one stop shop for both bits.

I've just been and checked and whatever labels were on the ladder seem to have come off, so there's now no clue as to who made it. I have a feeling I may have bought it from these people: http://www.laddersukdirect.co.uk/

A huge variety from diy rated to trade and professional though not sure what the difference is between the last two!
