Joshua Graham Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 So the female section is a shower controls and like the male section is brass construction. I have applied 5 revolution of clockwise PTFE tape. Tried tightening it more, but still it leaks.. Why? What have I got wrong? I will upload pictures tomorrow as the pictures i took today do not work. Anyway thanks in advance to any plumbers who help.
TonyT Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 Put more tape on, I use 15 turns on my TRV’s. Tape is cheap, return visits and call backs are more expensive. you could always use a potable water sealing paste too 1

JohnMo Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 PTFE and screwed connectors have been the biggest area of rework on my house. Have now dumped using PTFE completely and now use Loctite 55 sealing cord. Easy to use seals first time, every time I have used it. 1
Russell griffiths Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Forget tape and go for one of the liquid sealer locktight 577 I think is the number. check that available in most plumbers merchants.
