Shower Valve Handle

Handle on shower valve broke! You can see it broken off between the On & Off at the 12 o'clock position:

 

 

 

Handset might not be original:

will the stub not just unscrew?

You need a screw extractor set, something like this https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/6-piece-screw-extraction-set-3---25mm/

 

You drill a pilot hole into the broken off stuck but then the screw extractor will bit into that pilot hole and unscrew it.

I might be able to Dremel a screwdriver slot in it.

It’ll likely be brass, so don’t go half at it or you’ll lose the little bit of meat you cut into. Pilot and thread extractor all day long!

Start with a tiny drill and work up to not tighten this stub in any further.

I got one of those from either lidl or aldi, and the extractor head wore out immediately, being softer metal than the screw. Known branded next time.

I think there’s an unwritten law about buying shit tools from a supermarket.
