vagrantly3893
I just had a house rewired and they also did the networking. The switch and patch panel are mounted on a joist. I was considering getting a case to put everything in instead.
SteamyTea
Will be fine as long as nothing crushes/cuts it. Or unless you have a very strong electro magnetic field next to it.
Conor
Any risk of damp or condensation? Looks like a loft?

Actually it's behind a knee wall. Hopefully there is no damp or condensation here but ji can't be certain as we just moved in.
FuerteStu
Personally, I'd have said access was a bit iffy, could have been mounted so you could actually check on it. Also, the power supply. How's it fed? Do you have an easy access 'turn it off and on again' switch if its in a loft?

Though in the future we might close off and insulate the knee wall so we'll probably move the switch in to the habitable space. I think it's on the same circuit as the other plugs on the 2nd floor but I'll have to verify. 6 minutes ago, TonyT said: Are you in the UK? Na I'm in Germany. FuerteStu
I recommend out of reach network gear to be run through a fused switch in an accessible place, just inside a cupboard perhaps.
TonyT
I would have recommended doing it right the first time, to save duplication of labour and additional costs and asking for advise prior to the works being carried out small racks are Inexpensive.
