Aaron
Hi all, May not be the right area to post but we had a porch removed and there remains some adhesive and black residue on the brick that will not come off. Any tips to remove it?

Aaron
It is quite hard to touch, the black bit above the door but is stuck to the wall, it won't even peel or scrape. I also need to get the white paint off.
saveasteading
It is probably bitumen from the flashing. Getting it off would need lots of solvent and probably still leave a stain. Do you plan to do anything else there that might cover it?
Temp
By chance YouTube recommended this video on laser cleaning just now. I've no idea if it would work or even if available here..
SteamyTea
In The Archers, Phillip Moss got his slave to clean the glue off Grey Gables' kitchen floor with gasoline. It did not end well.

I don't have any great ideas here, but it may end up not being a canopy. My partner thinks cladding, but I can't see the vision there!

You could do external wall insulation and painted render. I think it could look good.
