Drellingore
Hopefully a quick one - are there any approved docs that relate specifically to house batteries and solar PV systems? I've had a quick look through, and haven't found anything yet.
Drellingore
...and of course, immediately after post I find Approved Document L, section 6

No, all BC care about, on this topic, is that you install the correct generation capacity of PV in new builds where the SAP calc needs it to work, otherwise it is just treated as part of the electrical installation and must be installed in line with BS7671. That is it. The batteries really are just not considered. Where BC come into it, is where we need to get structural sign off on existing buildings, etc.
SteamyTea
The wiring regs will apply. Was chatting to a fireman a couple of weeks back and he was saying that battery fires are happening more often (there are more if them, especially in bikes and scooters). TonyT
That’s maybe due to that battery chemistry. house batteries like pylontech don’t suffer from thermal runaway
Fly100
Im sure the Solar Edge Batts have two extinguisher in them.
DougMLancs
Solaredge use LMNC chemistry though like the Powerwall which is more dangerous than the LFP used in the other batteries like Pylontech and Givenergy. Dillsue
I think Solaredge have ditched the fire extiguisher in their current batteries. Don't know if they've changed the chemistry or just a bit more confident??

The fire extinguisher took up a good amount of space .
