We were on holiday last year and the villa had french doors that were tilt and turn.. tilted at the top to allow ventilation. I'm struggling to find somewhere in the UK that will do them any ideas?

Thanks

We had Rehau Geneo triple glazed tilt and turn windows which we also used as french doors in our last place. We used a single full height window as the door onto the balcony as well.

what sort of money are those tilt turn doors you used ?

We priced some up late last year from internorm 1000x2200came in before discount (approx 10-15%) was £1730. / 900x 2400 @£1630

mind sharing the supplier ?

The quote was from Buildmer in Gateshead (we are building in Northumberland)

We’ve not progressed yet as house still in planning.  It was part of a full set of windows/doors (>30k).  We’ve had internorm quotes from ecohaus as well different scope but very similar pricing.

I think they where what we would class as a normal threshold, around 85mm high?

The master door had a handle the other didn't it had thumb locks on the jam if that makes sense...

as the door is only 1500 wide slide and lift are no use to us but will ask about full sized window tilt and turn see if the local guys can do them.

Thanks

They’re referred to as balcony window/doors. You cannot have them as doors as you can’t multipoint lock. You can however have a window cill or a door threshold but you can only have a lockable or non-locking.

Mostly referred to as a french window / door with a flying mullion. Widely available from European manufacturers.

We’ve not gone down this route but looking at other suppliers for lift and slide doors that fit our budget we came across these.  https://www.uniwindows.co.uk/en/tilt-and-slide/#Tilt & slide-1

Not seen a tech spec for them though and assume they are not part of their passivhaus range.

Do not go for tilt and slide, UK people cannot operate them and will require numerous call outs due to incorrect use.

We do not supply them anymore and haven’t for 10 years, they’re more hassle than they are worth.

Even if security is meh I wouldn't do it.

I think you'll also wear them out as doors if used too often.

Fine for a balcony door that stays shut in winter, then gets tilted during shoulder seasons, then gets left open for most of the summer.

You'll wear them out / the frames will turn parallelogram on you if used regularly.

People also get confused as to how "to open the door" what with it looking like a pull down to open multipoint locking door but operating as a "lift handle to horizontal then open" window.

We used rehau euro 70 in 2100*900 everywhere because cheap (€250 in triple glazed tilt/turn flavour) vs a real door. Was a mitake in hindsight. Too much of a cheapskate to change it now though so will just stock up on hinges...
