Dan1983
Morning all, Quick one, our alarm install is finally being completed today after a long wait. The main unit power supply just goes to a 3 pin plug then into the socket. Is this normal? I know it has battery back up but seems strange that the main unit could be switched off so easily via the plug socket? if it’s fine then I will leave it, if not I can raise it with them when they complete the install today
Kelvin
Who is likely to switch it off? But yes every house I’ve bought with a professionally fitted alarm it was wired in rather than plugged in to a socket.
Dan1983
Yes thought the same, no one (possibly kids by accident) Just seemed a little odd, if it’s all good then I will leave it
TonyT
Fit an fused unswitched spur
Roundtuit
As above, I think I'd ask them to swap it for a fused flex outlet with no switch.
Dan1983
Only issue is it’s a double socket and I need the other outlet to power phone and wifi hub etc. Will see if there is some sort of combination socket that can do both!? Many thanks for the help

joe90
Change the double socket to an unswitched one!
