Paul K Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 We are in need of some initial ‘ballpark’ estimates of build costs for our project - can anyone recommend a quantity surveyor in the Derbyshire area, preferably one with Passivhaus experience? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
nod Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Bringing in a a surveyor for a single house can be overkill Most of the builders merchants offer a QS service Usually a one off payment of about £500 You simply need to send them your building regs submission and they will do the rest
Dave Jones Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 https://www.estimators.com/ send them the full plans and elevations. You get a build price EXCLUDING footings.
Thorfun Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 +1 for using online companies. Gave a good indication as the bank took it as proof of build costs for our self-build mortgage. although I know Jewson offer the service and if I had the relationship then with them that I do now I might’ve used them. Although I’m aware that Jewson aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, they’ve done me a great and well priced service up to now.
Kelvin Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Estimators is pretty comprehensive and not very expensive, certainly compared to a QS. The output struggled a bit with a timber kit as they added items that’s part of the kit but you can obviously take them out.

Kelvin Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Plus, I wasn’t aware of this, they have partner suppliers that will provide quotes based on the materials schedule Estimators provided
Paul K Posted February 14, 2023 Author Posted February 14, 2023 Thanks all. I'll give estimators.com a go and see what they can come up with.
