benben5555
Hi, I'm trying to sort out the water main, 32mm MDPE, and for some reason I can't find any insulation to suit the pipe. I bought the Shalloduct product to then find that it is completely rigid and basically useless. The only product I can find on the web is the below, but I can only find it stocked in one builders merchant in Lancashire and they don't deliver! How have others dealt with this? Thanks
Conor
Why do you need to insulate it? What's the scenario?
Kelvin
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an insulated water main. The water pipe from my borehole isn’t insulated. I’d have thought as long as it’s deep in the ground it won’t ever freeze and when it enters the building it will always be above freezing.
deancatherine09
Hi - this is what we used - for our temporary standpipe insulation. SHalloduct Water Service Pipe Insulation - 835 x 32mm - 19170 (bes.co.uk) 110mm Blue Twinwall Duct x 3m inc coupling (tradepipes.co.uk) It was a bit tricky to bend in a hockey stick shape, but we did manage to manipulate it into position with the help of some metal straps. Dave Jones
it has to be insulated where it enters the property, they inspect its done before connecting you to the mains.
HughF
You should use an insuduct mdpe hockey stick for this.
