readiescards Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Being a fan of long lazy baths, I often have to top up the water with hot to keep the bath warm. How can I insulate the bath sides and bottom? Or is this pointless as most of the heat will escape upwards.
Onoff Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 (edited) Rockwool batts or PIR / EPS down the sides. The floor under mine has 150mm of PIR and 25mm EPS. The walls down one long side and end have 50mm PIR in. On the long side there's an additional 50mm of EPS wedged in. Helps they're not outside walls. It's lovely and warm.....when I've enough hot water to fill it! Edited July 15, 2017 by Onoff 1

Why a bath trap and then an inline trap ? Oh, and just to scratch the itch....what's in the tee?
readiescards Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 Sorted - 30 minutes with some scrap PIR and earthwool. And yes I've run a temp sensor into the bath exit stream (inside a bit of brass) - the aim being to kick the MVHR into boost mode but only when the water is draining from the shower or the bath - don't want my bathtime ruined by any boost extract noise. (untested as yet) 1
ProDave Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Who was that forum member offering bags of PUR offcuts? We have found a use for them...... 1
