Hello

I'm looking to extend my double car garage, its effectively a box I'd like to add another box to.

I've drawn up (by hand) some scale drawings of what I had in mind.

Would like a professional eye and something I can apply for planning with.

Can anyone point in the direction of Architect/someone that could do this at a reasonable rate.

Had a local firm come in with quote at 4k which seemed a excessive.... or am I outer touch?

TIA

What region?

Price will depend on scope of works. Planning drawings, without construction detail, and walk away is not usually going to be  that much

Have a look at local planning applications which have been approved (preferably first time). They will all disclose the names of the architects/practices which did the application. Telephone the architects that you like based on those research findings. Interview them on the phone and then get the three you like the most to quote for the work.

You will probably need a Structual engineer Why not ask him or her to do you a construction drawing at the same time Much cheaper option

Depends… my SE was much more £££ than my architect.

Years ago, when I wanted PP for a replacement garage prior to selling a house, I got drawings done through an online service based on my sketches and dimensions.  It was cheap and cheerful, but got through planning OK.

Instructing an architect/designer seems a little over kill if you already have scaled drawings. Why not just submit those along with the other accompanying information? After all, you are only talking about extending a garage.
