markharro Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 I have very basic knowledge in this area - I know that normally shaver plug sockets only are allowed. However would there be any option to provide USB C power for this gadget and if so how? thanks
ProDave Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Is there a way you could mount it so the USB C cable passes through a wall into perhaps an adjacent cupboard or wardrobe where you can have a socket for a USB C charger?

What happens if the charger fails and transmits mains voltage down the line into the bathroom. Isn't that why isolating transformers are used in shaver outlets. 1

ProDave Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Cuddling anything connected to a power source is not recommended in a shower. It's a form of smart speaker so should be no need to actually cuddle it. Other countries manage with washing machines and hairdryers in their bathrooms without killing themselves, we are obviously a bit delicate as we have to be protected from such lethal dangers.
markharro Posted November 16, 2022 Author Posted November 16, 2022 Actually, I think I may just have found exactly what I need - https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SF8909AT.html?source=adwords&ad_position=&ad_id=&placement=&kw=&network=x&matchtype=&ad_type=pla&product_id=SF8909AT&product_partition_id=&campaign=shopping_excluded&version=finalurl_v3&gclid=Cj0KCQiAsdKbBhDHARIsANJ6-jdkcwWJPpdPbp34vpSIt5vrNwm1uBoRWfpm-70j4HK5Bj9iTgLu_NMaAmNMEALw_wcB Would this work? 1
ProDave Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Yes that would work, I didn't know such a thing existed.
markharro Posted November 16, 2022 Author Posted November 16, 2022 Ah there may be a problem - this seems to output at 5V and 2.4A and from what I have read online the Homepod needs a minimum of 9V to operate! Thats annoying
ProDave Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 The homepad is powered by USB C. If it won't work from a standard USB C socket, take that up with the manufacturer of the homepad. Apple have history of being non standard.
TonyT Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Fit a box. 25mm kopex to an accessible space. pass manufacturer cable through kopex with plug in room, you haven’t fitted a socket…

I refused. A few months later I went back and saw a washing machine sat next to the bath. He had drilled a hole in the wall, passed the flex through, put the plug back on and plugged it into a socket in an adjacent room.
