Had a few bespoke pieces of glass made by Glassandstainless.com and they have been really good, wasnt walk-on and it was the right size.

all joking aside, I wish I could help. we did originally have light wells planned for our basement with walk-on glazing at ground level but in the end decided that it was just too expensive and those rooms in the basement didn't need natural light so I never did any real research on the subject.

Just got another similar quote ffs !

Its just a light well ! I do remember as a kid walking over those glass blocks in the pavement presumably for shop basement lighting . That still exist ? . Indeed *any* cheaper method I’ll entertain ( got another of these to do also ! )

Then laminate some plate glass to it with UV curing adhesive.

 

If you just want light to come though, you could get a clear GRP sheet made up.  Get the right resin and mat and it will look alright.

F me ! Just spoke to them and got a sensible quote . Around 700 quid . Strangely enough the frame costs more than the glass !

Ah smarty bollocks - I’m a step ahead of you ! . The basic upstand is built - but I can add block work / lintels to ‘suit’ said glazing when it arrives . So too large or small can be adjusted for ( within limitations of course ) .

Because mr. wunt I can’t make an existing opening 50cm larger nor 50cm smaller .
