Rising Wages

Recommended Posts

I need to take on a full time patch plasterer

One of the lads told me he new a painter that was sat at home who would be perfect

I rang him and he told me he wouldn’t work for less than £185 per day plus expenses

There a massive labour shortage in every industry

But I blame the furlough for making people lazy

People don’t seem to want to work anymore

More to come with all the threats of strikes

What would YOU expect to pay per hour for a plasterer then?

My view is tainted by the fact I plan to retire shortly so I am not chasing work, just taking what comes.  Some may say that makes me lazy.

I don't know anyone working for that little.  But I only know self employed tradesmen.  Double that and you are close.

I’d normally get someone semi retired and give the 150 per day
It’s only going round filly cracks and patching after electricians and plumbers

Most of the plasterers earn between 200 and 400 per day

All price work So there not interested in patching

Quite some difference there, how does that work? Some are good, some are brilliant?

Got to say the plasterers we had were definitely brilliant and way less than £200 a day, but that that was around 2 years ago and times have definitely changed in those 2 short years!!

Some work quicker than others

I was doing a thousand pounds worth of work each week back in the eighty’s Others where doing a third of that

The problem with patching is The rates have hardly changed

I get £25 per hour off the contractors

Which dictates a patchers wage

My sons gang charge me £100 each per hit but they do loads and they’re neat. They won’t have a long career working that hard on the trowel.
