TryC Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Hi All, Looking for some advice on how to deal with a stone 'skirting board' - I had paid a plasterer to skim the walls and he said he would also go over the lip at the bottom. He didn't at the end of the day and I asked him about it and he said it was a skirting board. I am now trying to figure out what best to do with this section - it had previously been painted and I was able to get as much paint off as possible (see photo). It is basically solid stone and not what I consider a skirting board. ANy advice would be appreciated.
tonyshouse Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Slightly taller wooden skirting, some stick carpet on with a nice trim on top as an alternative
nod Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 It will be granite or Sand and cement He should have run a fresh piece The bit you are showing can be filled and sanded

Mr Punter Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 It looks like sand cement. I know people who really like the distressed shabby chic look and would love this in their house just stripped a bit and then waxed or something wanky.

Ferdinand Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Take the paint back to the stone (chemical?) and leave it as a bit of the house's history.
