Russell griffiths Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Morning all. Just getting some drawings for front and back doors, now although I thought the door openings where large enough, when the door swings back it decreases the actual opening size. Do we know now what is the actual opening size needed for disabled access.
Russell griffiths Posted July 20, 2021 Author Posted July 20, 2021 Also to add to this, how does actual opening size change on an internal door. Ive gone for all doors inside at 838mm what clear size are we meant to have ??
Temp Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Regs have changed since we built but all in here... https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/540330/BR_PDF_AD_M1_2015_with_2016_amendments_V3.pdf 1
Mr Punter Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 I think the 826 metric size and 838 imperial are fine.
Oz07 Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 800 clear opening so if you have an anal bc he will measure off your doorstop on lock side to face of door on other side. Ask me how I know! 1

That’s exactly right, but the clear openings can change depending on door thickness and hinge layout. So a 75mm solidcore door will have a larger opening than a 90mm thick passive spec one. PeterW Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Don’t forget there are rules in Part M that allow for reductions in corridors etc due to obstructions such as radiators and other items. Nothing stopping a door frame being one of these.
Oz07 Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 I think when ordering external door just ask your supplier if part m compliant. The onus should be on them then. A bit like if you get a quote for stairs and can't achieve the regs they make you aware of this and sign disclaimer
Temp Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 +1 The sill and waterproofing the level entry/ramp seem to cause more issues.

Bco here today so I will ask him and report back. Wish me luck, drain inspection today.
Oz07 Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Maybe regs have changed. I always thought 800. You won't need luck I've never had pvc leak. Just be sure you've not trapped any air else water level can drop as air leaks out top make you think you have a leak. 1
Russell griffiths Posted July 21, 2021 Author Posted July 21, 2021 So bc came today, I fired a load of questions at him. He stated 770mm clear opening is what he is after. 2
