JamesP
@PeterW @ProDave My Building Control has asked for a sound test certificate. I read somewhere that detached dwellings do not need one. I cannot find confirmation of this in Approved Document E. Your responses appreciated. Edited April 7, 2021 by JamesP
Mr Punter
This only applies to flats and attached dwellings. Not needed for detached. Has he been in the job for long?

Has he been in the job for long? Thank you, I thought so. Yes they have, recently being a little picky but won't complain. I think just fed up with self-self builders taking 4 years + to complete. nod
Quite a few of sites are doing a sound test on 1-8 I think he’s mistaken
Moonshine
It depends what he is asking for, if its a detached dwelling he may be asking for test reports that show that the internal walls and floors achieve Rw 40 dB (this is a lab test). If he is asking for on site sound tests for a detached house he is very mistaken in what he is asking for. 1
ashthekid
Will my Building control officer ask for one on a conversion project which is an end of terrace commercial property being converted to residential? he hasn't mentioned it yet but I want to be prepared just in case and put in extra sound insulation just in case. Temp
I believe he should if I'm reading para 1.3c correctly... https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/468870/ADE_LOCKED.pdf But perhaps see para 4 on page 10 about the robust design detail drawings.
