Pocster Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 My electrics tripped again when not on site . Decided to remove the ups to eliminate that . I notice some water on the edge of this shelf precisely under the nas ! Assuming a leak from above - nothing . Perhaps tracking down a cable - nothing . You’ll see the shelf is dusty / dirty with no obvious tracking marks . Could a nas generate condensation???! Underground of course . No heating . Possible ??
Pocster Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 Before anyone says I’m aware of the ingress of water on the floor in the corner . This is directly beneath my utility access hole . I foamed that now .
Pocster Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 Top of nas - dusty but no indication of water . Underside - if you zoom in you can see droplets . I’m assuming I’ve got 3 problems here 1 ) water down utility pipe - now foamed 2 ) something tripping rcd - blame ups for now 3 ) nas condensation ?!?!?!?
Mr Punter Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Could it be dripping down from the walk on glass?

Onoff Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Is it worth running a dehumidifier in there for a bit?

Just got home i.e. off site and it looks like the electrics have tripped again!. So no UPS and no NAS. Just a router and a small file server AARRGGHH!
Onoff Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Raise the NAS up on some blocks for a bit. Could be the hot NAS / cold shelf interface. 1

Pocster Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 (edited) Ufh is in and works . But it’s either all on or all off . Need to look at the ufh manifold and see if I can manually just leave 1 ufh loop on and the others closed ; just to warm it up down there Edited December 20, 2020 by pocster
Onoff Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Your MVHR isn't going yet is it? Might make a world of difference.
TonyT Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Can I ask what the equipment is for? im sure you probably have this info in another thread, just interested that’s all

Onoff Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Can you get a look inside the guts of the NAS? I've seen some horrors in the enclosures of external kit, water literally running down components that then go t!ts up. Often a tell tale smell (like TCP). 1
willbish Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 It's strangely mild weather in Bristol last couple of days. My unheated shell of a building is colder inside than out with condensate on all the exposed steels. Get some warmth into the place if you can 1
Mr Punter Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 If the house is sealed up, run a dehumidifier and a couple of oil filled electric radiators to get everything up to 18 degrees. It should heat up in a day or so and retain the heat just fine. You should not then have any further condensation issues.
Pocster Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 Started unplugging things off this rcd . Trips eventually. Just now tripped with just a surge protected extension lead plugged in . But nothing plugged into that ! If it trips now I’ll remove that also - the assumption being it will trip with zero load - so a problem for my sparky

Worth checking all your CU connections INCLUDING the factory ones. Often overlooked. That and test the RCD along with a ramp test. 1

Pocster Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 Well there we go . Rcd trips with zero load on it . SWMBO was blaming my ‘dodgy’ HA ... ??
