Wow - Are Exterior doors really that expensive?

I’ve just got the quotes in for a Solidoor front and back door.

 

Wow £2600  for the front door and £1600 for the back door.

 

I hadn’t realised Composite doors were so expensive!

I’ve also had quotes from Rockdoor.

 

Front door £2478 and back door £1158 inc fitting.

 

As these doors are black in colour, has anyone had problems with delamination, caused by the heat build up in the black door?

But you had a deal if I temeber correctly? So you have to compare that with what your actual price would have been.  

 

The prices above seem pretty standard for any of the high quality (or perceived high-quality) brands.

I had composite doors put in a couple of student houses a few years ago for their increased robustness /security over upvc, and I have not heard of any problems from the agent since.

Have you tried rational, Nordan, Allan bros, ecowin (gaulhoffer and zyle fenster) gaulhoffer has a great selection...but they will be above this price. They are on a par with RK  doors. 

 

Any of the main window suppliers really.

A vote for Gaulhofer - mainly because you can tune the hinges and striker plates to within a gnat's crotchet. But, they made my eyes water when I bought them.

We paid 18 for solidore front and back 

Two years ago 

I have an account with Quikslide 

Seems more expensive going direct to some of these companies
