Taff Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Looking for a front door, aluminium. Had a couple of quotes coming in around £4K ? anyone know of any where cheaper? Was hoping for around £1.5k
Dreadnaught Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 As you may well already know, most of the window manufacturers also make doors. I am getting my front door from IdealCombi (along with my windows) at cost of about £1k ex. VAT.
Taff Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 Yes our window supplier wanted 4K I nearly wet myself! So decided to go for the windows and not the door as they only did top of the range ones. I’ll have a look at your supplier. Was it in aluminium
Dreadnaught Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 The "leaf itself consist of a wooden frame with a 0.3 mm aluminium sheet and externally a 4.5 mm HDF board painted in a variety of RAL colours". https://idealcombi.com/doors/entrance-doors/flush-panel-doors/

Was hoping for around £1.5k I had all our window suppliers quote for doors too. Most reasonable...one of them came back at 4.5k. I find all the aluminium ones just rubbish. Look like they should be on an office building. L Gaulhofer seem to do nice ones ...no idea of price though. Why do you want aluminium out of interest?

canalsiderenovation Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 We got an ex display Internorm door with fingerprint sensor for a little over £1k - shop around! Our grey composite stable door from a builders yard, a customer order error we got for less than £200.
Taff Posted August 28, 2020 Author Posted August 28, 2020 I just don’t want any upkeep, haven’t really looked at composite doors!our windows are aluminium as our neighbors installed wood which wasn’t thought out right. They ended up having movement in excess of 20cm’s ? so I’m thinking aluminium being much stronger with no upkeep apart from cobwebs! Hopefully
