Mexco Core Cutter Arbor

you can just bring it back with Toolstation and get a refund or just bring the core cutter in store and try it, don't think the staff would care too much if you wanted to make sure it screwed in

Anyone know what arbor will fit this Mexco core cutter. The thread is nom. M20 but finer than M20 coarse.

I'm hoping it's one of these but there's no "try before you buy" now at TS / SF with this Covid thing! Take a chance I suppose

Yup. It's the one that's compatible.

Trying to knock up a really long extension bar for this core cutter.

Outside dia of thread measures nom. 20.5mm.

As for thread pitch, three threads cover nom. 5.5mm, 4 cover about 6.75mm. that's then about a 1.7 /. 1.8mm pitch. Can you get M20x1.75?

M20 Metric coarse is 2.5mm, M20 electrical is 1.5mm pitch.

Imperial maybe? 4 threads covering a 1/4" gives 16tpi and then the nom. 0.8' OD.

I reckon 3/4-16 UNF. Sounds about right as Starrett arbours are UNF.

3/4"-16 UNF tap is a bit sloppy...or is it?

Maybe it's meant to be to aid getting it apart on site? Looking down the bore of the core cutter and tbh the tap teeth don't seem to be lining up that well...

@PeterW wins tonight's (priceless) prize! It is indeed 1/2" BSP. I didn't even consider it as a possibility, I mean it's for "pipe"! I didn't even consider it with the Zeus book sat in front of me.

Good to know. However, as the other adapter I made is M16 I did the same with this in the end. Fully threaded the arbour length & found a couple of stud extenders and half nuts:

Going double off topic this reminds me of a famous family story from my niece (who is just going into final year at uni).

(You need to know that in North Nottinghamshire 'aitches 'ardly ever 'appen.)

Announcement from darling sister to family: "We are going to have an arbour for the garden."

Niece: "With ships?"

(Gets coat and exits, pursued by a bear.)
