Hi there, I'm in the process of a wee project in our house. We are thinking of moving the kitchen into the dining area, removing a non-load bearing wall, dropping windows down to the ground. Getting a bit frazzled by it all....hoping for ideas, support and experience from members of this forum

I did a similar project on our house 6 months ago except the wall between the kitchen and dining room was load bearing. Also, I didn't do any window alterations (so no requirement for Planning Permission required for us).

 

Have you got drawings to show what you're planning to do?

I'm just in the middle of a very similar project, just completed the new kitchen, and the new dining room is getting taken back to block this weekend.

Hi Ian. No, we haven't got plans yet. We've had a few quotes from architects. Not sure who to go with. Quite surprised at the cost of getting plans done. Need help with internal layout within the new room as there as so many option of where we could put the kitchen. Shocked at the price of kitchens, even Howdens are coming out at £14k and that's excluding worktop and fitting!

Well it must be huge - we did our garden room through Howdens and it came in at 4k including appliances + fitting.

Yeah kitchens can get expensive if you go to wrong place.

 

Mine including stone worktops cost around £6400 inc appliances, and i fitted it.
