Finger jointed timber, is it available over here??

reading the other thread on skirting I thought to what I used in Australia and I remember it being all finger jointed radiata pine I used it for skirting architrave and all door linings, it came pre primed like mdf but as soon as you cut it you can see it’s timber inside. 

 

Had a quick google and its all american or australian websites. 

 

I really liked it and would definitely use it again.

Not seen it here in any kind of quantity. The special moulding racks at the merchants with the intricate mouldings are done like this, also the door stops in the door linings I recently put in were like this. Never seen skirting or arc done like that here just pine

Our windows (made in Ireland) have frames that are made from finger jointed pine, so it must be available in quantity, at least in Ireland.

It is around, and you can get router bits to do it, but not common.

I have been using Howdens oak veneered MDF architrave and skirting, and the veneer has joints like this periodically.
