Has anyone done this themselves? How hard is it to do? We have double height areas in lots of the house so we will need a tower, but we’re trying to keep costs down by doing what we can ourselves. Also, how did you work out how much you needed? Our architect says we need Gawler tape, 60mm x 25m.

does anyone know of a technique to get airtight tape to stick to concrete blocks? I'm guessing they need painting with some sort of paint that the tape sticks to... Any info would be great. Cheers CC

If anyone interested I have a 15% off code for airtightness tapes with Passive house systems. The code is 15%aocx, not sure how long this code lasts but I have only just ordered and it worked for me. I have the rep's contact details so if it does not work let me know and I will contact him.

Frame up and just getting right into all things self build!. Been doing some airtightness taping and find it very addictive!! It is true that when you are doing it for yourself you really take care and never seem to get to down at how much work is involved (me thinks). Ask me again when we have finished. Will try and get some pictures up soon but I am not to great on computers , prefer the more practical side of house building. Just as an aside what part of people's build did they enjoy the most?

Evening all, Been getting on with some first fit plumbing in the four dormers. This is complicated by the fact that below the floors is outside (well some insulation and then outside) - so pipe work needs to go through the timber frame before going downstairs. See pic. I've got two challenges - soldering whilst not melting anything - including the airtight patch that will go over each pipe. The pipes extend below the floor so its tricky work - I cant just solder and then slide them in. Hope my explanation is ok! My thoughts are: 1. Cut the pipes shorter so I can solder the elbows on away from the frame and then connect the drops. Downside is an extra joint. 2. Use a pushfit elbow - I would need to widen the gap in the timber frame. Not too hard to do but another joint and not too sure on how to seal it. 3. Prob my fav. Cut the hole in the floor boards bigger. Slide pipe away from frame and the airtight patch by say 2", solder, cool down the joint & slide back in. Patch the floor. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Cheers Cc

There was a post a little while ago where someone was asking about digital tape measures. I've got a Bosch digital tape measure which I used for the profile markers, but have been using a steel tape measure for the first course of ICF. For those who've used digital tape measures, how have you found their accuracy? Cheers Vijay
