I have an old lead water pipe which I am looking to replace with MDPE. My supplier (Southern Water) state: "If you have lead pipes and you decide to replace these, we will also replace our part of the pipe that connects your pipe to our main (known as the communication pipe) free of charge if this is also lead" My part of this is to bring the MDPE to the boundary which in this case is the pavement. The question is could I bring the pipe to the gate shown in the image below by the blue arrow rather than use the existing shown by the red arrow? Would the water supplier then trench to the street stop cock? Clearly this assumes a trench dug to the correct depth etc. We're renovating the property and in future would make more sense to enter at this point as we are moving the boiler to the building on the right side of the gate.

Quick and easy Q. for the gurus- does anyone know of a flipper panel that is less than 300mm? Ideally 150 or 200. Not picky on thickness as I haven't ordered the main panel yet. I want to chicane a walk-in entrance to the "corner" of a 1400x900 tray and 300+ 600 feels a bit tight...

Reading this story though, I couldn't help but wonder did Falkirk Council deliberately install boilers that would be very expensive to run as I suspect installing electric boilers was a lot cheaper for them than installing gas boilers and the running costs weren't their problem. It is now exacerbated by people being locked into some very expensive electricity pricing, but anyone who knows the price of electricity versus gas knows that this would create a massive increase in heating costs. The story keeps calling them eco boilers. In no way should an electric combi be called an eco boiler, clearly people have no idea of the difference between these and ASHPs. The DM then have a further story today about banning every new home being connected to the gas grid, that ASHPs will cost £10k to fit and that they won't work in older poorly insulated houses. Assuming that gas boilers are eventually banned, then over time they can be replaced with ASHPs, however, I was thinking is this as simple as it seems? Even relatively modern houses will have heating systems designed to use 75C hot water from a gas boiler. Is the replacement of boilers as simple as it seems?

Does anyone know of a good window cill cover supplier? A few of mine (as yet unfitted) were mis-appropriated by the roofers and used as flashing for the solar PV, so I need some more. ? 'Taint funny.
