  1. Does the German flat roof practice of having pools of water on the membrane help with this? That was demonstrated in an early Grand Designs in doing up a semi in London, and it leaked :-). I trust that they usually work better than that.
  2. The first thread I just linked has all the info and links in it.
  3. I admire his (presented) attitude. He said they were running dehumidifiers; I wonder if they overdid it. The only time I have seen plaster come off the wall in sheets was at our old house, but that was Victorian or Edwardian plaster in a house that had been empty for years. Kudos to @Dreadnaught for the exact deep link.
  4. Ahem, (said the elephant) . OK ... nearly this time last year. It is is actually quite interesting how the conversation has moved forward. I am managing better this time by more thorough stack ventilation whilst having a 6am breakfast. Being still unable to sleep properly after my hospital episode has at least one advantage. ?
  5. Butterfly net, preferably extending. Or just leave a window open and close the door. It will probably find its way out soon enough .. they have sonar. We have had a few in in the old house, and that usually works.
  6. Acetone stores for a decade or more in my experience if kept sealed.
  7. If you see blogs with live sites, just email the blogger .. if here just PM. Most of us would be happy to take a visit. Welcome. It would be useful for you to put your approximate area in your profile. F
  8. (Going quiet for a bit ... trying to think of ways to help make this more complicated.)
  9. So paint it black if you are worried about your hats... but that only shows the mistake in not painting it all one colour to hide the join. Or do it polish style with the join 50mm down the wall. There’s something to be said for a flexible ceiling paint .. Wickes do one ... and also for easiclean bathroom paint. Insist on the right rAnge and you can restrict the boss’s choice of shades.
  10. Looks good. Artificial lawn is an interesting approach to a no-grass garden. I took mine out and have ended up with something more like a traditional cottage garden. Love the hit and miss vertical fence. I will be interested to see how those decking structures survive. Did you line the planters? How did you handle the ones against the house wall?
  11. Would a 6k heat pump do it, as you will need something chunky enough to do the whole thing not just your one room? One key variable is how long you plan to stay there.
  12. My plasterer worked alone. And it didn’t seem to slow him down much. But the most recent was a small place.
  13. I used a micro fibre cloth on a continually running hose while it was raining. (!) Took about a day on a 10kWp system. Having the material softened really helped. I have one of the pro window cleaning systems. There’s a thread about it if you hunt. Worked well with tree fallings and some lichen in addition to dust. Given that that is only about 3.4m high along the roof, a small ladder, bucket and sponge mop might have some impact. ideally a telescopic sponge mop. Ferdinand
  14. No idea. I think that is Jami’s from the other thread. F
  15. This may be useful. Perhaps £100 give or take for a board lifter. Available everywhere.
  16. What is the wall area being boarded and skimmed?
  17. That looks totally open ended to me, unless there are other clauses or definitions, so you could take the space shuttle down there on a low loader in order to BBQ an elephant. F
  18. How difficult is is it for you to clean it? I have two Which are accessible, and two which are pains. I would have paid for the latter. Assuming, Of course, that it works. F
  19. Previous comments about have it. I have treated timber by dipping and painting and standing it in buckets. If it is fenceposts then consider PostSaver. It will perhaps surprise how much liquid is absorbed. F
  20. See previous thread here . But you are talking about several processes so take care with comparisons. F
  21. Is that because she is right of because she is your wife? ?
  22. Until They leave too ... ?.
  23. I have to admit I do not have extensive scrote surveillance experience ?, but i do note that people who have the option of parking in passively surveilled or not surveilled parking areas choose the former. Which means that presumably the latter will be future potential self-build plots for warriors with paperwork machetes who can get through the thicket of bureaucratic rules which keep them as empty parking areas F
  24. The classic example is isolated unsurveilled parking courts. Possible surveillance via a couple of windows makes a difference to the perception of the scrote. Love ‘passive surveillance ... also known as passive surveillance’ :-). Manual writer being paid by the word, perhaps!
  25. Too late. Ordered the 150PS 2WD Diesel version this morning ! Looking at the V70s you mention they look OK. The starkest comes hanger seems to be that MPG seems to have improved by about a third for comparable models. Tempting to get an old one to play with during the 12-14 week wait period, though.
