Great that is good to know.

I was looking at their website and they don't have a lot of accessories compared to Howdens. My friend loves her Howdens larder unit and she has a really big recycling bin. Just wondered if anyone knew if you could buy the accessories from Howdens and fit in a different kitchen (such as diy)

Kitchen looks really smart. We are travelling up to the showroom next weekend. Can you upload a picture of the office furniture, would be good to see which units you have used

We are getting close to first fix and need to decide on lighting solutions. We are probably going with wall lights for lounge family room bedrooms etc and spotlights for kitchen and open plan areas. Any tips on what works well or doesn't? Any recommendations for suppliers?

Anybody going? I am thinking of going (have got the free tickets just in case).

So either white PVC or mirror finished chrome is the verdict rather than polished aluminium Do they always have a 40% sale in May? We will need tiles around then so it should work for us

Looks really good @lizzie what makes are they and where are they from? Love your tiles as well, where are they from?

Sounds just what I want, please can you post a photo?

Thanks for the advice. We are definitely having MVHR. It is a timber frame house. rather than brick and block. We have a contractor doing all of the build, so air tightness will be their responsibility. But we have made it clear to them that it is important. -

All of the big trees have TPOs which is why the metal fence is put up. It was a condition of the planning permission. -

It is clay soil and was a bit muddy in places. But it slopes downwards after the metal fence so water runs down that way -

Progress update. We now own the land and the builders have started to dig the ground for foundations. Very excited that it is all starting now, it all seems very real now -
As I hijacked another thread I have started a new one to get advice on oak stairs. I love how they look we will be having oak and glass balustrades for definite. But are they noisy and or slippy? We have 2 teenage boys who are up and down the stairs a lot!

Apoogies I seem to have high jacked this thread with staircase info. Really like the idea of oak stars as well as balustrade. But are they noisy and or slippy. We have 2 teenage boys.

Due to external noise we will not want the windows open in the night even in summer. Will the MVHR provide adequate ventilation?

We are getting quotes from various suppliers for our Al coated timber frame windows. We have been asked if we want casement or tilt and turn but we aren't sure. We are having MVHR so thought we won't be opening them much. We do want small sight lines. Are there any recommendations on which way to go? Are one type cheaper than the other?
-
Wow that is cheap for an oak staircase. We had budgeted about £1500 for just the balustrade. Will definitely take a look

Love your doors and oak staircase. Where did you get them from?
-
Wow your house looks lovely. What flooring have you got in the kitchen?
-
@Mr PunterGot any photos or links?

Haven't got that far yet, but had bamboo in a previous house and loved it

Looks great but my budget won't stretch to £75psqm unfortunately

Our ground floor is an 'L' shape, we were planning to use bamboo flooring for one side on the L which is the entrance hall, formal lounge, family room. The other side of the L starts with the open plan kitchen, then diner then at the far end of the L a casual living space. The kitchen/diner/living room all have bifolds out onto the garden. Just wondering what flooring to have in this part of the ground floor. Ideally I would want the same throughout as I don't like the look where one flooring joins another. We are having UFH throughout the ground floor. There is also a downstairs cloakroom and utility to think about. Should these be tiles as they are more water resistant? Any ideas greatly appreciated

Starting to look at kitchens. In our builders estimate there was a PC sum of £10,000 which originally I thought was fine but now I am not sure as we like the look of granite worktops, induction hops and lots of other expensive things. Came across diy-kitchens.com - just wondered if anybody had any experience (good or bad)

Very excited, exchanged contracts today on the plot with completion next week. Just a bit frustrated as our architect is being really slow to prepare the building regs drawings and the minor amendment to planning that we want. Just want to get started now
