Thanks Jeremy, I'm trying to find some info regarding required pressure for that size of nozzle but not having much luck. Hopefully i can find a solution

Corking? Not sure what that is Yes the loft is going to be habitable. not right now but want to get the walls sorted before we move in.
-
Thanks Jeremy, How much was the one you bought? Will have to ask around. I'm sure i could Hire one for a day or two locally for a few quid.
-
Yes its a replacement for parge coat. The reason i'm looking into the paint is because the plastering crew didn't do my attic gable walls before putting the plaster board up on the ceilings below and i was thinking this method would be less likely to damage the ceiling below. This stuff is about twice the price of going with parge but would be a much easier job. Do you think it would do the trick in terms of actual air tightness?

Hi Guys, Just wondering does anyone have any experience/thoughts on these products. https://www.airtightpaint.co.uk/specification/ https://www.ecomerchant.co.uk/liquid-blowerproof-brush-paint-on-airtight-sealing-membrane-5kg.html Thanks Damian

Thanks Jeremy, Its on the inside skin of the block. Finish is sand/cement scratch coat and skimmed.

Hi Guys, Just wondering what people think is the best method to seal for airtightness quinn lite blocks? Sand/Cement? Parge coat? Any other options. Its going to be a DIY job so easy and cheap is the preference. Thanks Damian

We had a visit to our site in the early days. Brick layer had constructed a ramp to take wheel barrows up from the ground to the top floor slab and he seemed happy enough with it. Our roofer was insistent on some extra scaffolding but i managed to beg/steal/borrow enough to get me through but not sure how the H&S brigade would have taken it. Even our slab guys didn't use the air bags. They talked about it on calls but the installers didn't bother. They just wanted the job done and get home.

we are in the unfortunate position that the stone work is approaching head height and the issue has just been flagged. So there is nothing we can do other than what will work with the stone as its being built. Dont think we could use the stoneer @Declan52 as we are doing dry stone and you have to point the stoneer. Granite clad all round? Dont know what way a steel lintel would work.
-
Hi guys Has anyone had experience of this. Basically I was assuming we could just place the granite heads and build on them but supplier said they aren't load bearing. So question is what type of steel lintel would be required and would it be visable to the underside of the head. Also we have a 3m opening which we are told is too large for a granite head so they are quoting for 2 25mm deep granite cladding panels. Would I be best just getting concrete lintels and cladding all of them? Thanks Damian

Thanks for that. So the best option for the CCTV would be a nice Smart TV. and SWA + 3 CAT6 for the gates. Champion.

Hi guys, Have the spark coming back in the next few days to finish off internal 1st fix and he was asking some questions that i'm not 100% about. Firstly is the Gate entry wiring requirements? So what wires do i need at my gate for gate automation (well into the future) and a Keypad/Video doorbell at the gate? Secondly was the CCTV system. I would prefer to go with an IP cam system but would like to be able to view the cameras on an internal TV? He wasn't 100% on how to set it up so would anyone have a rough idea of what cables i need for that? I am going CAT 6 and will power the Cameras POE. Would i just need to take an Video output from the PC and have it shown on a TV via say HDMI to CAT 6 Balun? Thanks in advance Damian

Megabad order was fine but we were using a Euro card. Likely would have been as easy otherwise. Invoice in German isn't great but there you go. We are only buying the things that are really much cheaper there. Wall taps etc we will get in the UK as the stuff the have on megabad is just too expensive. We went to a few local places and one did up some designs but we didn't end up going with most of what the suggested.

Good advice. Yeah i'm just thinking this may not be the place to try and save a few quid

Thanks Jack, Has anyone used Vellamo?

Hi guys, I'm in the middle of purchasing plumbing gear and have already bought my geberit toilet frames and hansgrohe shower valves from megabad Toilets https://www.megabad.com/hersteller-geberit-spuelkaesten-montageelemente-unterputz-spuelkasten-a-216944.htm Showers https://www.megabad.com/hersteller-hansgrohe-showerselect-thermostate-unterputz-2-a-212325.htm So next purchase is going to be wall taps, and i'm wondering about what brands people would recommend? I have been having a good look around and there is a site tapswhareshouse that seems to have some good prices on the brands i have heard of vado and crosswater. The Grohe/Hansgrohe wall taps are very expensive. The front plate and basic body are nearly double the price of the crosswater taps! They also have brands like Vellamo which seem to have very similar specs to the crosswater etc. Solid brass/Ceramic Disc etc etc. Has anyone used them? Would i be mad to skimp on such an item? Thanks Damian

Lovely stuff, so the paralell 30Kw PHE would provide enough flow for our DHW? I was thinking they were the ones doing the cold water uplift. Do you think my plan of pairing a Telford 500L buffer with the pair of PHEs would be a decent replacement for the heliotherm 500L freshwater system? http://www.heliotherm.com/en/heliotherm-fresh-hot-water-system.html Thanks
-
Hi Peter, Just 1 500L buffer for DHW and ASHP going directly into the UFH. Centers are mostly 150 with a few 200mm. The sunroom is at 100mm. I have solar PV so will be getting hotter than that during the summer and taking it up a bit higher by direct electric i would think during the winter months.
-
Bump Any thoughts? Any idea of required PHE sizes/costs? Thanks Damian
-
So have a quick update Plumber #1 came back with a crazy quote and offered no justification or breakdown of costs. Plumber #2 2 days later came back with a quote 3-3.5k cheaper depending on cylinder selection. Had a fully itemised quote and UFH pipe layouts drawn so much more impressed with the initial professionalism. Also seems to know a good bit more then plumber #1 about ASHP At any rate he came up with his own design and I wanted to sanity check it to make sure my understanding is sound. So his plan is I'm sure more the out of the box solution for ASHP. Plumber the heat pump directly into the UFH at lower temp say 32 ish ? Then have it prioritise DHW and deliver that at 47 degrees to a 500l buffer with external plate heat exchangers for delivering DHW. Quoted for a heliotherm fresh water 500. Which is an eye watering £2155 I know this design really undermines the maximising of ASHP best COP with the max of 40 degrees but it is simple. I could live with that as using direct electric to lift from say 40 to 47 degrees wouldn't be a major issue especially with the solar PV. Any how. I'm wondering what you guys think and if you could advise on a secondary plan. Could I buy a Telford 500L store and add exrlternal plate heat exchangers at a much reduced cost? What Kw of PHE would I need for DHW delivery? Would that setup work out less than £2155? Also I don't think the heliotherm comes with an immersion so that would have to be added to get the most from the PV. Any thoughts @Nickfromwales @PeterW @JSHarris Have attached UFH drawings for the craic

Will do thanks @Nickfromwales

I'm hoping he is going to be ok. I would prefer to know a lot more about it myself but there you go. I like knowing what the other guy is talking about. Thanks for all the help! Damian

So another update. Plumber #1 has re-engaged and i sent him on some of the more current details on the thread. he agrees that simplifying is the way to go. Sounded a bit funny when i mentioned plate heat exchanger but that could just be me. Should be meeting up with him on Monday so we will see how that goes. Thanks D
