Any ideas if the VR33 could be used to connect third party smart system via Opentherm to the Arotherm Plus series. The goal is to get variable flow temperature to provide faster heating while minimising average system flow temperature, hence maximising efficiency.

Daikin appear to have fallen behind the market in This area, as r290 products are offering higher SCOP and therefore higher RHI payments.

I went with a Telford heat pump cylinder but kept the DHW vented, it’s worked well for 40 years and continues to do so. Several pumped showers already installed so just makes things easier. But either way, a cylinder with a large surface area coil is needed to enable the heat pump to do its job efficiently.

RHI needs an MCS certificate number though.

Ok, yes I looked back and see that is correct. The blurb says “Your renewable heating system must not be designed or installed to allow uses that are not considered eligible for the purpose of the Domestic RHI scheme.” But later does say “They may also provide cooling.”

You cannot claim RHI if the system does cooling AFAIK. However the function is there and configurable in the system settings.
