  1. Current spec 50x150 @ 400 centres (which doesn't allow for 200mm pir!)
  2. Sorry - I need 0.16 to be achieved with planned 200mm of celotex. Just looking at options. Celotex isn't exactly cheap atm!
  3. Kinda what I was thinking - so the general opinion is that it isn't then?!!! Carpenter that is pitching the roof recommended it.
  4. I've been taking a look at ACTIS insulation. When searching the forum I can see various comments about its lack of performance as a foil but how about if using the full build up? In a warm roof construction from what I can see if you select all three products it can deliver 0.1 U Value in 200mm depth. Thoughts??
  5. Yep so if it’s at least around the joists only it would avoid that. I’m thinking of present wrapping the ends in say roof membrane
  6. That’s kinda where my head is at…
  7. Next question is sealing around the ends... I've seen the Tony tray method and mentioned to builder but he is really worried about the strength if we're taking plastic through the blockwork in two places. Also seen end caps but cannot seem to find them readily available anywhere! Any other methods/ideas?
  8. My builder thinks it will cause screws to pop etc in plasterboard. Traditional joists he would usually recess the hangers… 🤷🏻‍♂️
  9. We’re just about to install I Joists for our first floor. “Under no circumstances notch the flanges”. How does this work with metalwork and plasterboard getting a nice flat finish? The hangers will protrude down at edges (and we have some meeting in middle on a steel) even a few mm can cause issues with the plasterboard. Same issue for the restraint straps with the floor?
  10. Im checking with SAP calc people to find out. Original was 0.16 on some sections and 0.11 where there’s a loft. So 0.14 on the whole thing may work. (I’ve upgraded other areas too). Concern re air ventilation is felt touching the rockwool? Builder is concerned about it becoming wet there like in other applications, you always keep the felt away. Airtight layer would be OSB on the inside.
  11. So I think we’re looking 300mm I joists with rockwool between. My architect has never used these before though so I need to tick a few boxes somehow. build up : OSB, 300mm rockwool between joists, air gap (50mm? - to avoid felt touching rockwool?), breathable felt, tiles I can speak to the SAP people to confirm it’ll meet what I want in terms of insulation but how about condensation calcs to satisfy bc?
  12. I’ve used Marmox and impressed with them so far. Very easy to lay and nice and square to start the walls off. I’ve used them all round and seemed to get a decent price. I’ll dig out where from.
  13. I’m in Surrey so probably one of the most expensive. If they’re 98p with a couple of hundred miles though it’s probably worth paying carriage!
  14. I wish I could get blocks for 98p I'm struggling at £1.40!
  15. 🙈🙈🙈 fun and games isn't it! There isn't a problem area that I'm aware of. Merely a tick box on the form that needs ticking!
  16. Let's hope so. Approved Consultants haven't been great so far so I'm hoping they're not going to be awkward!
  17. Ok great, thank you. I will give it a go. They are absolutely impossible to get hold of but I can try! I’m trying to get these cleared now because it’s going to take a number of months I feel. I really need to talk to them about a few of the points, like the last one for instance. I’m pretty sure the plans submitted demonstrate everything needed so I’m unsure what they need.
  18. Also nothing nearby that I can think of as an issue. All housing…
  19. So I understand it was originally the garden of house next door then the bungalow was built 50’s/60’s. So been there for a good while. Nothing in planning to indicate, no conditions etc. Just a point on the plan check report from building inspector…
  20. Ok sure, thank you. see attached my summary showing exactly the points outstanding… plan check - outstanding items.xlsx
  21. What info would you like?
  22. I'm looking over the much delayed plan check report from AIS (see other thread about how bad they are!). One outstanding point is C1 : Site Preparation and resistance to contaminants where they are asking for a site investigation report. Given we're well underway does anyone know what I need to do to fulfil this requirement? Do I really need to pay to get someone in to do this? We've knocked down a bungalow and are building on the site...
  23. I do suspect it’ll deliver good sound results so may not be worth any extra effort and just let the beads go down?
  24. I’ve used JHAI in the past and they were great.
