Spoke to the architect- my idea has merit ! And yes @PeterW I could duck about around each window and never find the leak(s). Assuming I rip the lot up back to the rubber . Will the rubber come off the cement particle board ? . If not would a proper rubber roofer be happy to rubber over the top of existing rubber ?? Worry the ‘stilts’ will dig into rubber . My architect is adamant water proof concrete doesn’t exist ?
-
Brainwave attack ! Centre of plot I.e where you park waterproof concrete whatever To the sides stilts ! Then walk on glass is effectively not going to be ever submerged ! - same on other side !! As long as you park straight ( not that we are ever going to park on it anyway ) Does THIS have some merit ? ( feeling very smug )
-
What about the ‘pavers’ on stilts idea ?. Assuming you can get a system you can drive on ! . Could even have a pump below the stilts for drainage . Whats this system actually called ???
-
Just for completeness. Here’s the front effort they left me - i’ve Not touch this . When I flooded the site no water went over these bits as it’s fair too say they’ll leak . Enjoy quality !!
-
Yeah it’s probably not possible. But ignoring astetics why can’t I just pour water proof concrete ? ( no idea how you get a fall on it - but let’s pretend that’s not an issue )
-
Perhaps a dumb suggestion But why can’t I just pour waterproof concrete over the entire lot ( upstands in situ and protected ‘somehow’ then perhaps have coloured tarmac or resin driveway . I was always confused on where any water goes as it’s lower ( the slab ) than the entrance . So I want no water going through . Just thinking ?
-
Just quickly googled it ; says a single ply system - no ply for me ?
-
Let’s assume I was doing this from scratch ( might happen ! ) - I’m not completely sold on the rubber . What other options might be worth exploring???
-
Right whilst not the issue a concern ! Looks like the metal frame can tear the rubber ( or I did it when removing it )
-
Yeah Any joints a potential issue ! Still ; I shall continue abound !!
-
Lol Wish the paving was shit and it didn’t leak ? Think it’s marshalls metro line
-
3 sides exposed . Nothing at this point suggests the water getting under the rubber . What worries me now is water runs over this upstand and it doesn’t leak . But runs to the front of the site - has no where to go so pools and *perhaps* goes under my rubber extension to their piss poor attempt at the edges . This upstand once done properly and entombed in water would prove it doesn’t leak ; but somewhere else is . Still ! Try and get 4 sides exposed today and that frame off ( as @PeterW said - stuck down with structural silicone it doesn’t want to move !!!
-
Oh I do ! I remember his “receipt “ said “ all work guaranteed “ - what ? To be shit and leak ffs ! I’ve only had 2 ‘professional ‘ trades on this project - both shit ; ?
-
-
Yep I’m certainly not doing it ! ?
-
Architect thinks he knows someone who does rubber . My concern is he might say he wants it stripped right back and ripped out . Then he’s starting afresh and not with a bodge .
-
Yeah I did think of a dam around each one and soak will keep breaking out
-
My other thought is the water could be getting under the nearest window and running down to the other !!! So I would need to both to be certain water proof
-
Can’t see a ‘vote’ option a) attempt patch b) rip up and start again ( at mercy of ‘roofer’ )
-
I seem to recall the issue was it’s lack of flexibility especially when concrete is poured ontop . Architect ‘s call
-
I’ll wait for Architect- but I think start from scratch will be his advice .....
-
Definitely did not heighten this one - can prove it ! Too the left you see my concrete block then the wooden firring - no additional height stuff . The more I dig the more disillusioned I get . Can clearly see this lap is free ffs !
-
I’m not sure about this ! Dead slow !! Managed on the shallowest part to get down to the rebar layer . Carefully by hand removing cement away from rubber upstand . There’s a completely unsealed bit ! . This window I didn’t add upstand height too - so this was the quality roofers ! The more I dig the more certain I’ll be taking the lot up . From the edge pavers should come up easily for re use .
-
Ok - you understand my concern ; assume worst - hope for best . Will break out around the worst window . Will post pics
