  1. Had a few ( at swmbo’s request ) . Shite . Battery fails , lights not exactly illuminating the cupboard . If I really need to delve deep into the recesses I use my headband led light .
  2. next to the quoin you mean ? . Yeah I’ll rake that and bitumen paint into it
  3. Only if it works ! Starting to drizzle a bit so zero chance of floating any fall on it now
  4. Bit tricky . But I will bitumen paint up the wall and stone a bit . I’ll thicker paint at that junction also to create a slight fall .
  5. Agree . Thanks for calling my stonewalling historical 😊
  6. Cleaned it out . Didn’t need to go very deep until I hit some concrete ( presumably poured after the slab just to fill in the trench around it ) . That bit I painted bitumen on had some very loose stuff under the edge . Flipped that out and there is a potential gap there . So going to fill will concrete but keep it lower than the asphalt and then bitumen the lot tomorrow.
  7. I’m going to dig out that mot1 area infront and to the left and right a bit . Try to pull the membrane back a bit . Fill that with concrete . Then bitumen everything so the bit in blue will be concrete
  8. You mean here ? Mot type 1 - asphalt ends in that green line just about
  9. Exactly . What to do ? . Dig out and fill with concrete ?
  10. Compacted mot1 I think
  11. Forgot I’ve got some of this It’s the rough ground an issue - but it’s unlikely to move - just (expletive deleted) this over the lot ( professionally speaking )
  12. But what about the compressed loose ground between them ? . Remove replace with concrete or just (expletive deleted) liquid rubber over that also ?
  13. Think what I might do is cut back the membrane for the 1st row of pavers . Dig it out , put concrete in . Then bitumen from asphalt over that .
  14. Or perhaps a piece of flat outdoor plastic laid under the membrane upto the edge of the asphalt. Might give a better seal if bitumen ( or liquid rubber ?? ChatGPT keeps changing its mind ! ) - ??????????
  15. So the asphalt ends at the green line , rough ( but compressed ) ground ( probably mot1 ) - so that runs under the membrane . So just liquid rubber running from a few inches up the asphalt to a few inches over the membrane . In essence the red bit is liquid rubber done all the way along covering all the different materials . That a plan. ?
  16. Where the asphalt ends - then rough ground , then the compacted ground ; membrane ontop and pavers . So that liquid rubber over the lot ? Effectively ( hopefully ) forming a waterproof barrier from rain going over asphalt then over the rubber off onto the membrane under the pavers I.e water will run away at that point
  17. Gorilla type liquid rubber and just (expletive deleted) over the 3 materials ? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gorilla-Waterproof-Coat-Black-473ml/dp/B09V86J5YD/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_mod_primary_new?crid=2MF2EKSRMIBTV&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.O0vWoMcL7jZMja5gyMI1-0wdC8OOmN_zn4A1FjXTF_fwL00iDl-CsIE4abjRfBq_5nKTL5Old6YR7Rrq1T_odicmAkjjK7qbmSd_iscxdsaiwBOcHly2Qu5goPmNc2ivOmkl--oIsS1awvolJ-C6CNrFwOBVqDgy3fh53ts1yjyZpkbSTlTbbKGpgJyBaqF1zuzzWjp9_xU1o69y0toFIA.wdTSmUrFz24KdDgTW8rBx2QWlsXlDLhG3LK9wd15ANM&dib_tag=se&keywords=gorilla+liquid+rubber&qid=1750514596&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sprefix=gorilla+liquid%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-3
  18. Dug up a bit . So there’s some membrane under the pavers . Perhaps when it floods it runs under that and back ? Just concrete over the edge of the asphalt and membrane - then bitumen paint the lot ? I can’t just bitumen paint this as is can I ?? Liquid rubber ? So up over the asphalt to meet the bitumen . Over that small bit of rough ground , then over the edge of the membrane … ?
  19. Think I need to take up a row of pavers . Clean it up so I can see how the asphalt actually ends .
  20. Dig up the rough ground where the asphalt ends and rough ground begins ( currently pavers ontop ) . Cement with fibres mixed in to stabilise the ground then bitumen paint that and over the asphalt edge ?
  21. Still leaks but very slight . The issue I think ( guess ) is overflowing that corner I.e the block paving causes the water to pool and run high… Could just remove some blocks and retest … ? Just pour / paste bitumen all over the exposed ground ? It pools at the green area and literally rises to the top of the blocks - so I think it then seaps through the ground and runs under .
  22. 10 minute saturation test
