    Lamp fitting

One our lamps fell to the ground courtesy of our kitten. I purchased a replacement connector today but there doesn’t seem to be a screw to connect the wires to it. Our old one had screws. Am I missing something?

    Ceiling rose wiring

yes. Just confused on the middle one. This is what I’ve done. Will turn stuff on tomorrow when it’s light again.

    Ceiling rose wiring

I’m thinking I’ll connect 7 to my blue cluster... I’ll stop referring to them live and neutral for now.

This is spot one - that’s wired and working.

    Ceiling rose wiring

Thanks guys. All coming in handy and slowly getting my head around it. One spot has been successfully wired. We have three. Two have the same wiring. The middle, in this picture, has two extra cables. There are eight as opposed to six. I had two cables in slot two. I’ll couple those and connect via neutral to the lamp. Same thing for slot six - they’ll connect to light via live route. That leaves slots 3,4,5 and 7 - what do j in do with these guys? Cant work it out from the diagrams provided.
  6. We wanted to change one our ceiling lights. I’ve removed the old fitting and have been confronted with this - please see images. Our new fixture can’t mount to the existing plastic wiring box. There are multiple live, neutral and earth cables coming out the ceiling. Not sure how to get around this. Suggestions please.
  7. Agreed. I’m saving £20 albeit for 10m2... which is good because it’s less stuff to landfill.
  8. This is the LVT click system we’re going to opt for: https://www.ukflooringdirect.co.uk/vinyl-flooring-spectra-light-grey-cement-tile-luxury-click the sample we got was good quality. The thing is, they’re wanting to charge us £75 for LVT underlay - that’s for a 15m2 role, which is way too much for us. I assume I can buy underlay from another brand to use under this LVT. Is that correct?
  9. Understood. Will keep it as it is... it’s fine for the wood we typically saw.
  10. 96 decibels on the chainsaw... in memory serves me correctly. I have a face guard/grill. I’ll start using that. This is my chainsaw oil I’ve been using. It was sold to us with the saw. It’s done now.
  11. Do chainsaw chaps have some kind of reinforcement are they just a reinforced thread? Silly question, but if I wear noise cancellation headphones, will they work?
  12. I can see that the bars on my saw are replaceable - so can I replace it with a longer bar and chain?
  13. I use goggles (occasionally) and have steel capped boots. The ear defenders are a great suggestions. I'll look at investing in some.
  14. What, pray tell, does PPE stand for?
  15. This is hysterical. Talk about trying to get sex selling products: Super Sexy Genuine Chainsaw Oil 25L for use with Stihl Chainsaws https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XY7YJ5M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_ADb3DbQ1RQKY2
  16. Mine is oily, but not dripping or excessive. But it does get through oil, which I found odd which is why I posted here, but good hear that it’s normal.
  17. Can I fit a Oregon chain on a Makita saw? I won’t tamper with the oil flow for now. The only reason I raised the oil is because it makes muck, but I’ll try to clean it more regularly now.
  18. Mine’s battery operated so I just pull out the batteries.
  19. Agreed. That’s why I built my own sawbuck. It’s also a lot safer now.
  20. I will look at buying a better quality oil. Yes, about every hour of chainsawing would be a good guesstimate. Will also clean the muck out after each use. Good tip. I sharpen the blade now when I stop getting chips when sawing and when it becomes sawdust. I use a manual sharpener from Stihl. Will take a photo tomorrow.
  21. A quick one - I'm getting through quite a lot of chainsaw oil/lubricant on my Makita battery operated chainsaw. Each sawing session lasts about 20 mins, where I get through a 12+ logs. I have to top up the oil after three sessions. Does this have something to do with my sawing technique? The oil also mixes with the sawdust/chippings - does this need to get cleaned out more regularly?
  22. Can I also be annoying and ask if anyone has used Crosswater taps?
  23. Thanks Peter. They’re not cheap, but neither was Booth & Co to be fair... I assume Booth & Co want be solid brass then, or might they? This is such a minefield for the uninitiated.
  24. Are Burlington taps better in terms of quality than Vado/Booth & Co?
  25. Thanks Jeremy.
