  1. I will replace the ply. It was horribly laid to start with. Just trying to be cautious and not be too aggressive.
  2. Yeah, I went down to the hardware store a picked up these two tools. Makes the work a lot easier.
  3. A handle on one of windows has stopped working - please see image and video. I can’t figure out how to open the mechanism and see what’s gone wrong. It’s a PVC window. Advice welcome. 8833ABB2-F99D-4625-929E-839CC41C1180.MOV
  4. That answered a few of the questions. Thanks for sharing. Useful link.
  5. I purchased a pack of attachments for my multi tool to assist me in getting tiles off the floor. Thing is, they’ve arrived and I have no idea what they’re each used for. Any guidance would be appreciated. I’ve used the circular one to cut through the grout, but there are some stubborn tiles that aren’t budging.
  6. Very sad. Off to the skip they’ll go.
  7. Just removing the last of the wall tiles in our bathroom. They’re coming off in one piece with the cement/glue on the back and grouting in the edges. Is there a market for used tiles, say on eBay, or do I just load them up and take them to the dump?
  8. We have that exact product that we used when we had our downstairs show done last year... so yes, that we will definitely be applying that.
  9. We are going to remove the wall, because we want reposition the shower. Once the new wall is up, we will seal it (is that called tanking?) and tile and grout properly.
  10. Wow. That sounds like a horror scenario. I’ve found water damage already behind a section of wall tiles... by Saturday I hope to have everything fully gutted and will know the extent of what we’re dealing with.
  11. Do I need to “disconnect” the waste plug in any way in advance of removing the tray?
  12. Mastic around the outside... removed most of it now. Still not moving. Will try to deconstruct some the wood frame. As a last resort, I’ll take to it with a hammer and teach it a lesson ?
  13. This thing isn’t budging. Advice anyone?
  14. Thanks Ferdinand. Excellent points as always. We will definitely take our time and do this job properly. i will read your articles tonight.
  15. Next step is for me to remove the shower tray... it’s on a wood frame but can’t make out how it’s fixed to the frame. I assume it’s not screwed in. How are these typically fixed so that I can remove it?
  16. Another great tip. My wife loves using essential oils...
  17. It’s definitely going to be a learning curve, and quite a steep one in some places. It’s going to be testing, I’m sure, but hopefully it’ll be good fun too. Did the first easy bit today by ripping out the shower (glass and tray).
  18. Fab. I’ll be asking more questions here as I move along. It’s going to be a significant process for my skill set.
  19. That was my first thought, but wasn’t sure if my thought process was cowboyish. Phew.
  20. We have two we can use, and was a massive factor in our decision because this going to take a while.
  21. Given our recent leak we’ve decided to gut our bathroom and give it an update. Once the shower and bath are gone, what is the best practice to seal the waste pipes so that smells don’t waft back in while we wait for our plumber to come back and move our piping around?
  22. Located the faulty joint and had it replaced. Central heating is back on. Phew.
  23. That is what I intend to do.
  24. Yes, with different amounts. Same job numbers too.
  25. No @ProDave. What I meant was that the quotation, and corresponding invoice, is a different amount to the invoice provided to me by the installer, indicating that they are trying to charge us for the Victron that we never received.
