  1. Welcome, my only comment is guy wires have to be in a specific direction to balance load from overhead wires. No problem asking and see what their response is.
  2. Yes, just needs a concrete base, all the neighbours like my “pretty” garage https://www.quick-garden.co.uk/wooden-garages/?_gl=1*1o4y9i*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwtNi0BhA1EiwAWZaANNlEEyKIvwq8eaP6O5STZ7ihyJhmGjHNN0m4QLPsq81-fOai-BpIQBoCdewQAvD_BwE
  3. Ambulance chasers by the sound of it, I know of two cases where a PWA has caused problems and wasted money so not a fan of them (but realise they are needed in some circumstances).
  4. Plenty on the tinternet https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005571046055.html?pdp
  5. My understanding is garden walls are party walls, this from gov website. Party walls stand on the land of 2 or more owners and either: form part of a building don’t form part of a building, such as a garden wall (not wooden fences)
  6. My immediate thought was an undershot water wheel, you would need to dam the water slightly which would upset the water level within the canal upstream.
  7. Ooh I love hairbrain projects, but is the bywash yours? On your property? Canal guys might object.
  8. Is it prime agricultural land? When planning went in for a solar farm near my build it had to be on non prime land. Is it vanity ? If we want to pollute less solar is one of the options, also price wise is the gain financially better than producing food when we can buy it from elsewhere?
  9. Now thats a really good idea.
  10. Just looked at that but didn’t understand this…. Today, balancing services regularly exceed 50% of national demand. i thought the idea of balancing was to align supply with demand so how can it exceed 50% of national demand (unless it goes into storage..?
  11. Then they were not measured correctly eh.?
  12. Then that was not laid properly, I have fitted GRP roofing over many years and not one call back. If it’s good enough for boats, what's not to like 🤷‍♂️
  13. Is this true. I thought it was the “ National Grid “ Transmission costs. The costs of operating the National Grid System are recouped by National Grid Electricity System Operator (NGESO) through levying of Transmission Network Use of System (TNUoS) charges on the users of the system. The costs are split between the generators and the users of electricity.
  14. I discovered the west facing outside brick skin was wet through when drilling for the ASHP pipes, insulation had not wicked it up at all which was good but I treated the wall with waterproofer anyway to protect the bricks more than anything.
  15. Ta da…. Yes the plan for mine said in the verge but was found 20 ft into the field opposite.
  16. The water board used rods to locate their water main for my site 🤷‍♂️
  17. I don’t think he can as that’s the boundary
  18. That’s the regs so I don’t see a problem with the outer DPC bring higher than the inner as long as the clear cavity 225 below the lowest.
  19. A single socket? Then that’s ok as a spur. As is a double socket I believe.
  20. I agree, creating a dormer style 2 story is a compromise between a “house” and “bungalow” therefore fitting in with surrounding properties 🤷‍♂️ feckng planners I hate them.
  21. I take your point but many walls are built too close to clear debris from the gap. At least if concrete posts are used the fence panels can be lifted out and the area cleared, probably only needs doing every few years at most.
  22. But surely you can switch off/disconnect PV. If you can divert excess to an immersion you can divert to open cct 🤷‍♂️
  23. Welcome and the view looks great. Bring on the questions much knowledge here.
  24. Interesting. Octopus Energy has now accredited close to 1,000 zero bills homes across the UK and aims to deliver 50,000 globally by 2025. it also depends on the price of the house I guess.
