  1. ive emailed graf 2 one tank supplier he says phosphate is the same as nitrate reading NH4 and they can get down to 0.5mg/l
  2. thanks ive had a look i assume it does everything else the other bio disc plants too plus the phosphate stripping? what sort of price range if you dont mind me asking
  3. no unfortunately the two tanks will be on different farms, ahh i see, wonder how much extra its going to cost, the standard klargester ba claims to reduce photspate to the required level but its £4300
  4. well field drains technically but it all runs into the loch hence the strict rules on new builds in the area
  5. the old septic tank will need to come out altogether and a biodisc with phosphate stripping is to be put in place and also the same at the new build so 2 tanks needed which is why im keen on a cheaper make than klargester if possible
  6. yes i am near a loch so im having to not only put in a treatment plant on my new build but also upgrade another property in the catchment areas old septic tank to a treatment plant so the combination of the new build and the existing property in the area comes to a fair bit less than the old septic tank was so where a septic tank emitted 10mg/l of phosphate per person daily i need a treatment plant that gets that down to 2mg/l
  7. i suppose the question is do most of these other makes have phosphate stripping as standard?
  8. yes this is ver important as it needs to achieve 2mg P/l Daily discharge of Phosphorus in terms of emissions, i had a look on marsh website all it says is it can discharge safely into a ditch, no detailed info
  9. the vortex doesnt seem to be pleasing this guy
  10. thanks for the info, is marsh just as highly rated? i like a bargain
  11. was that recent? thats a good price
  12. thats a good price it seems like this klargester is near double the price of the other makes i wonder why its so common? ah really what area do they cover can i ask why you needed water treatment isthat because its from a borehole? thanks, yeah that would be handy if they cover my area too
  13. what sort of price range are they for a 5 bed, 7ppl one? quote i got from klargester was £4285, not cheap
  14. ok thanks what put you off the vortex?
  15. interesting, which one has a 3 chamber process?
  16. so what are the pros and cons of vortex v klargester for anyone that knows? ive bn told its easier to maintain which is a big consideration less moving parts, anything else? ease of installation, price? thanks
  17. ah so i dont actually need a concrete base then just concrete the anchors?
  18. i found that very interesting did you not need to lay an electric cable?
  19. how would you know if you are a high water table area before you dig out of interest? the klargester has anchors either side you can concrete in i think, the other makes must have something similar?
  20. ok thanks im hearing a lot of support for the vortex ill need to price one, would it be able to reduce emissions to the level of the klarg as quoted earlier?
  21. ah i see well i have a digger on the farm so could mabye attempt it, my only concern was if i hit water table when putting it in the n t could get trivky, also does it need to be set on a concrete pad?
  22. id prob prefer someone else to do it so its done right are there any good companies in central scotland for this?
  23. The foul drainage infrastructure capable of achieving not less than 125% phosphorus mitigation associated with this development shall be undertaken in a phased manner: - (a) No development shall commence on the approved development site until the mitigating foul drainage infrastructure at the remote property at *********has been installed, this is the condition, so mabye i can use a different one as long as it meets the same emissions as klarg
  24. i need one that will be sufficient for a 5 bed house, what sort of price range for a vortex? ill put below the mitigation calcs if anyone knows how the vortex or other systems compare let me know i could use them instead thanks BACKGROUND Average amount of water per person per day =150L Primary Treatment: septic tank, standard discharge of Phosphorus as a mean = 10mgP/L Daily discharge of phosphorus per person = 1500mgP Secondary treatment: package treatment plan as a mean = 5mgP/L Daily discharge of Phosphorus per person = 750mgP PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT – 1 No 5 Bed Dwelling 1 x 5 Bed (New Build) = 1x7 Persons = 7PE Secondary treatment to be installed = 2mg P/l Daily discharge of Phosphorus = 150 x 7 x 2 = 2100mg P/day Mitigation required a reduction of 125% generated by development = 2100 x 125% = 2625mg P/day EXISTING PHOSPHATE DISCHARGE – 1 No 5 Bed Dwelling 1 x 5 Bed (Existing) = 1x7 Persons = 7PE Secondary treatment to be installed = 10mg P/l Daily discharge of Phosphorus = 7 PE x 10mg P/l x 150l = 10500mg P/day EXISTING PHOSPHATE DISCHARGE – BioDisc - 1 No 5 Bed Dwelling 1 x 5 Bed (Existing) = 1x7 Persons = 7PE Secondary treatment to be installed = 2mg P/l Daily discharge of Phosphorus = 7 PE x 2mg P/l x 150l = 2100mg P/day CONCLUSION - PHOSPHORUS MITIGATION Proposed mitigation to upgrade septic tank for Farmhouse @.... 25. no it hasnt been purchased yet, are these systems cheaper?
