Any horrors using micro cement for a shower cubical?
MPH243 replied to Beau's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
I tried on a house last year that had 2 bathrooms micro cemented, it did look good and minimalist. Find somebody who will do it and then get them to spec how and what they want to micro cement onto. I can't comment about long term as this is the only time I have seen it. -
Vat Claim

Looks really good and well done with the cost, very impressed. I like that it is a bit unusual with the double gable. Hopefully the grandchildren won't damage it to much😁, I know mine would if given 1/2 a chance. What flooring have you used downstairs? -
If you still had it, you could cover the joint and always see the problem😁.

Are you taking that piece of decking up as well to check what is below?
-
Thank goodness you have found a likely place. This could of gone on for years😁
-
That's a shame, I think you need to just spray your water over areas further away than where you think it is. Use your 10min over 3 or 4 foot area. That's what you get for living in a cave🤣.

best paint for painting sanded down pallet wood

This is who I meant above https://www.brewers.co.uk/search?q=Linseed+oil this company is likely to be fairly local as there are a few around Manchester. As @Crofter mention linseed oil or Danish might be a good choice. You could search on YouTube for different videos of people using the different oils and finishes and see what suits you for cost and looks. -
Looks good, roughly what part of Devon as there are several of us around as well as north Cornwall. I am from mid Devon near Crediton.

The Osmo is a tinted hard wax oil, £1.55 is the tester pot, you would probably need at least 750ml. I used this for our Oak staircase but it is only a clear hardwax oil https://www.screwfix.com/p/liberon-2-5ltr-clear-matt-water-based-interior-wood-wax-oil/5182F?tc=FG5&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19822796129&gbraid=0AAAAAD8IdPyfxoaSUDUU9N6sIoqNBYRgI&gclid=CjwKCAjwravBBhBjEiwAIr30VLFGRXRiOfoQw-4XwR_sOfw9x3ltS-3vlHjbnfhyBgNqLgju60l56xoC-rIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds I think going to Brewers or a another paint center (hopefully you will get somebody helpful) and asking them for options, take a offcut so they can see what you are trying to do, you will need to think about what colour and finish you want. -

The first link you will never get that finish it looks like spray painted mdf. Probably a satinwood. The second link is a coloured wood stain which would be similar to what you would get with something like this https://www.wood-finishes-direct.com/product/osmo-colour-foundation?gclid=Cj0KCQjwiqbBBhCAARIsAJSfZkbIb7zWiLooLaZjZ_JnCi6u-gxmIjnSnDusdA9Z9WloE7rlW7wCT9UaAnciEALw_wcB>in=4006850745999 It is expensive but good and has different shades to colour the wood. There are other stains that would give a similar effect. -
The silicone render on our house looks really good except when the up/down outside lights are on at night and it shows a little, but I think it is better than a sand cement would be. I am very pleased with it.

I have used Cuprinol garden shades before and has lasted outside OK so indoors should be fine. A coloured stain or oil would work well as @Crofter has suggested. -
If I lived nearer I could send one of the kids over to do it, but they would just spray everything including inside🤣. How about modifying a sprinkler to spray a limited area. (not sure how to though)
-
You might find 2 minutes is not enough to get a small amount of water to get where you want it, maybe 10 min on spray. Try to replicate rain as splash zone will be included. I am sure you will get this eventually.

I have 12mm laminate with 2mm foam on screed with ufh, I have also fitted something like what @Nickfromwales linked to in a customers house with ufh. I would probably go with the lvt as it is waterproof and seemed a bit more robust than our laminate. Your floor should be good for flatness which is important.

@jack I tried it with a Hozlock one and I could not get it to fit, I thought about trying to by the fittings to adapt it but just bought the sprayer as I was not sure what threads I needed. The sprayer is good quality as well, it screws onto the pipe instead of the short Lance.
-
I used the same stuff as @jack, within 2 or 3 days it had all gone. I bought this sprayer https://www.buyaparcel.com/matabi-81847-berry-7-sprayer-5-litre-mtb81847/ with the 5.4m extension https://www.zoro.co.uk/shop/maintenance-and-outdoor/lawn-and-garden-sprayers/telescopic-lance-5-4m/p/ZT2594450S The extension works OK but it is a bit whippy when fully extended, and the locking system is friction only so does undo a bit to easy. It is definitely worth it as no ladders needed to reach the top of my gables.

When Can We Move In?
MPH243 replied to MortarThePoint's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
We moved in before sign off, but we had kitchen, 1 en-suite and 3 bedrooms finished. The stairs were just finished. The electrics were not signed off but we're tested. I got the Bco to come out and he said he was not worried, but offered a letter if insurance company wanted it. I did have to get separate contents insurance. -

Cut it down now otherwise they might put restrictions on it. If they ask say it was damaged in the last storm. -
Where to lap DPM with Marmox with split floor level?
MPH243 replied to lookseehear's topic in Brick & Block
I had this inside our front door and just finished the blocks 2 layers lower for the opening and ran the pir out to the step. If the opening is going up two less rows of block won't make any difference unless I have missed anything? If you need to do it your way I would do the bottom one as less chance of damaging it. -
Thoughts on warranty claim for a defective roof
MPH243 replied to Paene Finitur's topic in New House & Structural Warranties
Is it the water hitting the outside of the gutter and splashing back onto the facia and rafter ends, it looks like a big roof into a small section of gutter but might be the camera view? -

It changed when it went online and not having to send all the invoices, they just ask for a few to check I think. There was something about it on here the other day?
