  1. Hi If anyone has the above anthracite 7016 and white inside could you post some pics please so I can see the profile clearer, close up and from a distance please. I have lost the pics I took at the home show and now Manchester is cancelled I can't get any more! Also anyone has the Ideal Combi Pureview sliding?
  2. @Mr Punter is this a general observation or particular brand?
  3. Thanks I'd just found that. I think those three windows I mentioned above would need to reduce from 1810 to 1600 in width. That isn't too bad....
  4. I'm trying to clarify with Ideal Combi what their maximum width is to allow the single pane openings. I've a feeling the following opening windows will need to be reduced if we opt for single pane openings. It's just how much they need to reduce in size..... W8 Living Rear 1500*1050 open W10 Dressing 1810*1200 open W11 Master Bedroom 1810*1200 open W12 Gym 1810*1200 open
  5. @AliG thanks. Yes one company had split up those windows into three which is a definite no according to the OH. Internorm had split them into two. There have been some minor tweaks to our windows which are as follows and on the plans below. D2 Bedroom patio Door 1810*2100 D3 Large sliders on dining room 5555*2100 - ideally slim profile Windows - triple glazed, I've noted openings W1 Cloaks/Shower 915*1200 open W2 Bedroom Front 1810*1200 open W3 Bedroom Rear ensuite 915*1200 open W4 Office 1200*1050 open W5 Corner window 910*2100 fixed W6 Kitchen 2400*1050 fixed W7 Living 2400*1050 fixed W8 Living Rear 1500*1050 open W9 Tall Hall 916*2000 fixed W10 Dressing 1810*1200 open W11 Master Bedroom 1810*1200 open W12 Gym 1810*1200 open Landing (x 2 windows) 650*1050 fixed The windows facing the canal and that are next to one another W10, W11, W12 (see plan) I think are the ones which will have weight issues so I think we would have to split these up into two (not three). As w6 and w7 are on the same stretch I think we would have to do the same and also for w8 too as it's in the same room as w8. I think the other windows could possibly be just single rather than split as they aren't on the same side so as long as they are consistent. The alternative is just reduce window sizes although we are working with the existing window sizes for these windows. @Russell griffithsggriffithsg yes I remember what you mention about inside colour for aluclad PVC which is another factor too but we are in battle about white or anthracite anyway. I think white will look sleeker, particularly if we end up with the thicker profile aluclad. Also if we end up with divisions in the middle I think white will be far better.
  6. I'm analyzing quotes for our triple glazing and although I love the slimmer profile of Ideal Combi the Internorm aluclad PVC is tempting though more expensive and I'm struggling with the frame thickness. Although me and the other half are in agreement on top hung windows, it's about the only thing we agree on! We have a few fixed one pane picture windows no bar in the middle. Two of these, e.g. in the kitchen and living area measure 2400*1050 and I don't know if they would look a bit odd with no 'bar' in the middle (even though they are fixed). Then the windows that do open, the other half wants just one top hung window that opens, e.g. no split 'bar' (I don't know the technical name). It's not a problem for the smaller windows but no company has priced up for this on the larger windows and I don't know if they do it, e.g. can you have an 1810*1200 window as one whole opening or would this need to be split into two with one fixed side and one top hung opening (Ideal Combi and Internorm have split this into two)? I can't help but think it would look a bit odd if they all had the appearance of picture windows with no bar bit in the middle. Has anyone had just one frame top hung openers? If so pictures would be great. And if that wasn't enough, I think white windows would be better inside the other half wants 7016 as our large sliders would likely be anthracite inside as would the rooflights ? What have you all got inside? Do you find if you have anthracite inside it dominates the inside walls a bit?
  7. Not sure where to post this but please share. I was in conversation with Ideal Combi and mentioned I would have to try and arrange a showroom visit as this was cancelled and they hadn't been informed so exhibitors may not be aware!
  8. We currently have a dryer in our utility area and just open the back door with no issues. Even with the windows open we have had squirrels climb in and birds fly in. We also had a baby owl fall down the chimney too! I'm hoping a cat will help ?
  9. Try http://www.structural-glass.com/ They quoted me a round rooflight which were over half the price of Roofmaker.
  10. I'm just reviewing a quote from Internorm. Opening windows are 50% more than fixed so I am trying to work our which windows will have to open (majority will as bedrooms only have one window). If a room has a door opening to outside, does it also need a window that opens? For example our large open plan kitchen and dining room has sliders that open and there is also a window above the sink so does the window need to open if we have large sliding doors? In the utility/mud room which has a back door to outside but also a small window. As there is a door does the window need to open? Also what colour windows do people have inside? My OH wants RAL7016 inside as the sliders will be this as will the rooflights but I want white ?
  11. No because they only do timber or aluclad timber which we don't want.
  12. Still waiting for prices from Internorm, Idealcombi and Neuffer but I've just come across Weru Alfino Top which look interesting and I'm just wondering if anyone knows how they compare price wise and the product generally.
  13. How would I go about this?
  14. So following my little jaunt to the Build It show in Manchester last weekend I have the first quote back for an Air Source Heat Pump and Underfloor Heating via Nu. This is what they have quoted for. NIBE F2040 Air Source Heat Pump with Nu-Heat hot water cylinder, buffer tank (EnergyPro® 300 litre unvented stainless steel HP cylinder for use with NIBE ASHP, and 150 litre buffer tank, complete with fittings and supplementary electric heating). Total £9149.00 + VAT. What do you think of this? Obviously it will be interesting to see others and what the builder is quoting for too. The underfloor heating is £5069 (screed with cliptrack based on 196m2) - see pic, no idea what half of this means. They then offer a sort of package for installers who are not MCS accredited to allow systems to qualify for the domestic RHI which is an additional £899.00 + VAT. The whole RHI is baffling me. Without knowing how much I can get on the RHI, how do I know whether to use an MCS accredited installer or not or whether to for example order the package like the one offered above. I can't find out how much I will get without an EPC and as the property will be extended by roughly 100m2 I can't get an EPC until that is done as the current one isn't valid. If I get one done when the extension/work is done the system will be ordered/installed so it's a bit late then!
  15. @Weebles oh wow that looks epic! We have a bungalow so we wouldn't have the height issues. Which company did you get it from? Is it the one I mentioned. I'll read your blog shortly.
  16. It's a true round window. I can only find it on one of the brochures I was given on the home show https://roof-maker.co.uk/rooflights/flat-rooflights/
  17. ? mega budget we do not have! I'd love to see the window you mention thst @Weebles has. Hopefully she will be around soon to make me green with envy
  18. I was at the build it show yesterday in Manchester and was just lazily reading through the brochures and saw some round rooflights. I would love one of these in our entrance hall (we have two other rooflights in our house where I wouldn't want t these) but they are eye watering expensive! Anyone have round rooflights?
  19. Yes that's my concern, as we are making so many improvements to the bungalow if they do an EPC based on our plans (we are extending 3 sides of the bungalow so pretty much the whole thing), new windows, roof, insulation in walls, floor etc it will end up being completely different to our current EPC. Perhaps we just ask our builder to quote for it instead.
  20. So do I get an EPC now based on our bungalow as it is or get an EPC based on the plans for the bungalow with extension. We won't be starting work til at least June (builder availability).
  21. We know we are having ASHP and will make use of the RHI and now I'm in receipt of dimensioned drawings I can start to look into companies, prices and what the RHI will be. Obviously we want to try and get as much RHI as possible. Now I know we need an EPC for RHI. We have one from when we purchased the house but that is dated October 2019. It gives the space heating kWh as 13,640 and the water heating as kWh as 2,915 on our dwelling which is 100m2. Nothing has changed since then and we would still have a D rating - we have oil heating, a large proportion of uninsulated flat roof and double glazing. Ideally we would want to get the maximum RHI as possible. So do I now get an EPC done based on our drawings/plans? We will be be significantly increasing the size, replacing all windows, roof, insulation etc and getting rid of the oil. I'm really confused.
  22. Unfortunately not, we have a Clearview Stove place local to us and have been in and asked. It's fixed on. Can't justify the expense of buying another when the guy in the shop made a point of saying how good ours is and the OH was there. I have no argument ?
  23. @Thedreamer I like that how it just sits inside and no red bricks to be seen. I guess we could raise it up, depending on what it sits on. Love to see pictures of other people's set up, helps me visualise things better.
  24. @joe90 looks far nicer! Wonder if our stone could be sprayed. I've seen red and blue colour spray ? I Idefinitely don't want red brick though. The best thing currently is here are nails in the bricks from the previous owner and I can hang washing on them to dry. In the absence of heating in any other room, getting out of the shower and yelling for the warm towel is one of the nicest treats in our current situation!
