  1. Paperwork just come on email, seems we may need to get expansion tanks replaced!
  2. I was not around, I booked the service but was not here when they did it. This is supoosed to be a reputable firm, indeed it has been around for a while and locally comes recommended OH said guy filled in lots of paperwork and said we would be emailed it along with a copy of the invoice but it may be a while as they were busy. What happened next was radio silence and then on about day 12 a snotty typed letter and invoice that we hadn't paid reminding me of their terms. Turns out they had taken my email address wrong which is why I had not received it. Needless to say I tore a strip off them, they apologised, I paid and that was that but I never did receive any paperwork from the service (probably because it was sent to my wrong email). I have followed this up this morning. I can see from the invoice that it does say a certificate will be supplied on receipt of payment but I haven't had one.
  3. I don't own a tyre pressure gauge but I have ordered one from Amazon for delivery tomorrow. I have now added pressure back in for now. The other half mentioned at the service the guy mentioned something about 'that red tank' and that it may need replacing so I am guessing it may be an expansion tank issue! That all said we have not had it serviced for about 4 years and I would likely get a different company if it does need replacing and get a different opinion...
  4. That is odd as we only had the system serviced 2 weeks ago... maybe it is a problem with the expansion vessel?
  5. This you mean.. One side of flexi hose this.. And the other side this... Just checked it now and it is back to normal but this could very well be as the heating is on but if I turn the hot water on it slowly drops so I probably need to investigate tomorrow as something is not quite right. Will it do damage having the hot water heating up with the black needle on 0?
  6. The heating has tripped in and it has creeped up a bit to about 0.5 bar but it seems if the heating goes off it drops again. Edit. Spoke to soon, heating still on and it fluctuating between 0.5 and lower. If I manually turn on hot water programme (it is normally on a timer) black needle drops rapidly to zero.
  7. Non technical description....I noticed today that the black needle thing is pretty much on zero but the bar seems fine. I think the black one is to do with the heating. I know I need to look at adding pressure but any youtube vidros say I should have two valves and I only have one (the black one to the right). If I turn this nothing happens. Is there something else I need to turn as well? There are two blue lever things to the right. 20260108_225857.mp4
  8. Here are some photos. Dad doesn't think the waste or toilet was fitted on properly either but it in fairness it is in the Airbnb and had not been used really til June this year so obviously been leaking since then. Water to toilet is now off so for now panic over and dad is going to sort after xmas once we have sorted stuff.
  9. Its this bit black rubber.. And that kit from Screwfix looks like it will fit and has the otherseal but we will double check the measurements... Measurements of unit
  10. Victorian Plumbing have said it is this one but ideally I need to get it today or tomorrow from Screwfix or Toolstation. https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/venice-concealed-wc-cistern-with-wras-sensor-flush We think it it is the seals but frankly now it is all off the wall and everything off we may as well replace it now to avoid any future issues. It has been leaking a while and the water has swollen woodwork on the unit too.
  11. We have this unit and have a leak. Urgently need to replace the cistern. https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/hudson-reed-solar-550mm-wc-unit-matt-fern-green?srsltid=AfmBOooFSS5a9j5JGYjAoVXQIfcW8DWhd5u1vC7X9Usz1vWVbe0tH0ONtT8 Can anyone tell me which cistern from screwfix or toolstation is compatible pls?
  12. It works for us, three periods of cheap electric, 4am til 7am, 1pm to 3pm and 10pm til noon. We work from home and only heat the house those times although the stat is set at 18 degrees as a set temp we have it heated up more during Cosy so manages to retain the temps. Works for us...
  13. We are on Cosy so heat hot water and UFH during those times.
  14. Is this all electric house, cooking etc all electric? We are using pretty much the same during this cold snap too but that's everything. We had temps down to -6 for 2 nights on the run though so very, very cold.
  15. Nope it was definitely the gunk, it was vile. Absolutely disgusting and never unscrewed that thing before. Smell has gone now but keen to replace seal and re silicone.
  16. I'm actually now thinking it isn't a seal it is actually clear silicone underneath it as it doesn't all look the same shape!
  17. This is our kitchen sink and we had a real smell. Took out the thingy thing highlighted on the pic by unscrewing it and 🤢 Cleaned it all out but the silicone seals are not great on the metal thingy thing and although it is sealed and not leaking I could probably do with replacing the complete bit but I have no idea what model of Franke sink it is. Can anyone help me get the replacement bit or identify what it is called so I can buy one please. (It doesn't look great on the pic as it is difficult to get back in as the seals are that damaged and disintegrated although it isn't actually leaking underneath - yet)!
  18. Just wanted to report back on the £20 Sentry. Well its very surprising and we have noticed a huge difference! I've not had to scrape scale off the kitchen tap at all and the kettle we have in the Airbnb which is in frequent use has only been descaled once rather than weekly. Of course our water isn't softer but the limescale has definitely reduced in that it isn't sticking to things any longer! I'd definitely recommend it.
  19. Free to use abroad, no foreign transaction fees for ATM withdrawals, used it for years in lots of countries and paid for items online in foreign currency. Also made a claim once under cc guarantee. https://www.barclays.co.uk/credit-cards/reward-cards/barclays-rewards/
  20. Not this particular panel but I struggled with the flipper panel on a walk in shower and the seal was like this, rigid and bloody hard work. In the end I used one of these old knives (I have a couple I got from my nana and use as butter knives). The handle is slightly rounded and worked well at pushing it in! Had blister on my finger though.... didn't use anything else as you had to put sealant on the metal and push the seal into that.
  21. That doesn't work as a www. Is that a typo?
  22. Good news is it looks like the flipper panel can be replaced as I've taken it off just now. Bad news, chip and scratches hes in slate ecfect shower tray thingy. Any idea how to repair?
  23. Wow, so strange. Does anyone know if you can just replace the flipper or if whole glass has to come off. It looks like it's just the flipper bit that smashed.
  24. Woke up to this, it's our spare shower and not regularly used. Been in for about 3 years with no issues. Any idea what can cause this? Didn't even hear it. Its the flipped thingy
  25. Thanks Should I have a permable or non permable grout? I am presuming the brush in grout was permable? The slabs were laid on compacted MOT topped with a mortar bed of sand and cement. There is a fall on them and no drainage issues I have found the stuff we originally used it was https://www.tilingsuppliesdirect.co.uk/product/ultratile-propave-external-tile-grout?srsltid=AfmBOoqqWIztTfMWVL_E19WjgWZK8c2mKeKDwOqF5pSjqX0xMuMbyOvq
